Even though there were so many participants in last weekend's ZOTAC Duel Cup #74, the same players ended up on top and managed to make it to the latter stages of the Cup.

The big names showed up, bar Anton "Cooller" Singov and Maciej "Avekkk" Krzykowski, and we were treated to quite a few hours of Quake Live with some exciting and thrilling games, especially since the start of the Best-of-Three phase of the Bracket. Luckily for the viewers, none of the top favourite players of Sunday's cup managed to end up on the short end of a surprise.

The Bracket was set for a Kévin "strenx" Baéza and Sebastian "Spart1e" Siira rematch of a couple of weeks ago and both Fnatic players had no easy feat to make that match happen, though, as quite a few Intel Extreme Masters World Finals participants were on their path to the Grand Final.

Kévin Baéza had to fight off the Swedish Reason-Gaming player, Pelle "fazz" Söderman, who, even though he did not make it past the Group Stage in Hannover, had a really strong and solid showing. In this ZOTAC Duel Cup, the Swede tried to push the Frenchman as well, managing to secure Hektik as his own but was no match on both Aerowalk and Dismemberment. Kévin Baéza then had to face the Belarusian who disappointed deeply in Germany last weekend. That match was a rather easy win for the Frenchman, unexpectedly, as Alexei "Cypher" Yanushevsky tends to be the thorn in Kévin Baéza's foot. He took the match two to nothing and was already secured of a Grand Final spot.

While the Fnatich Frenchman waited for his opponent, Sebastian Siira had to fight off the Brit, Gareth "GaRpY" Marshall, who was invisible to the public for quite a few months. The match ended in a clean 2 : 0 win for the Swede and he now had his most difficult match so far, going up against Marcel "k1llsen" Paul. The German ESC-Gaming player also failed to impress in his home turf last week and was vying for some revenge. Even though the match ended with all three maps played, it was the Swede who managed to come out on top. Especially the final map on Furious Heights was a clear-cut victory for Sebastian Siira, who would fight against Kévin Baéza for a shot at the €100 prize purse.

The Swede proved that Hektik is a map that really suits his frantic and aggressive rocket play, as he could really dominate the armours and mega health to end up winning 26 : 12. However, this was already the third map in the Best-of-Five and after having lost Lost World and Furious Heights, he needed to win all the remaining maps to still win it all. Unfortunately, Dismemberment does not seem to suit Sebastian Siira that well and Kévin Baéza managed to win the map 06 : 00 and took ZOTAC Duel Cup #74.

Final Standings:

France Kévin "strenx" Baéza - €100
Sweden Sebastian "Spart1e" Siira
Germany Marcel "k1llsen" Paul // Belarus Alexei "Cypher" Yanushevsky
