Sebastian "Spart1e" Siira had done really well last week to pick up a first win in Quake Live in 2011 and it served as a nice statement about his rather unfortunate Intel Extreme Masters S5 European Finals performance, showing he is very eager to do well and better at the World Finals next week. He was to face quite a few opponents along the way, though, with a very strongly visited ZOTAC Duel Cup #71 last Sunday.

The biggest names participating this Sunday were without a doubt Alexei "Cypher" Yanushevsky and Maciej "Avekkk" Krzykowski, both Serious-Gaming property and some of the best in the game, tout court. However, both prominent names suffered losses early on, still in the Best-of-One phase, and were sent home without anything gained from their Sunday ZOTAC routine. Both losses can probably, although nothing is proven or guaranteed, be attributed to technical problems on the players' sides.

Suddenly, Marcel "k1llsen" Paul became the likely favourite to take home the title and he was well on his way to reach the Grand Final, until he bumped into the Reason-Gaming Swede that is Pelle "fazz" Söderman. The match was quite close in hindsight and could have gone either way at any point, but it was the Swede who walked out on top on both Hektik and Dismemberment.

He would then have to take on his countryman, Sebastian "Spart1e" Siira, in the Grand Final, after the latter managed to take out Marius "GUard" Ivanauskas and short-lived SK-Gaming star, Bogdan "Bodzo" Mazur, in the Quarter and Semi-Final respectively. Both of his match-ups were short and convincing wins, seemingly on a mission to prove what he did the week before was not a fluke.

Reason-Gaming's star Duel player, Pelle "fazz" Söderman, started the Grand Final with intensity and it paid off, managing to quickly win both Aerowalk and Hektik with a convincing scoreline each time. However, Sebastian "Spart1e" Siira, surprisingly succeeded in still turning this match around and won the consecutive three maps to take the series and the match with a 3 to 2 map score in favour of the Fnatic player, crowning him the winner once more.

Final Standings:

Sweden Sebastian "Spart1e" Siira - €100
Sweden Pelle "fazz" Söderman
Germany Marcel "k1llsen" Paul / Poland Bogdan "Bodzo" Mazur
