With $5,000 as a guaranteed prize purse, the Call of Duty 4 tournament of the Italian Ultimate Gaming Championship does offer a very large and attractive place to be for the Southern-European community and a unique opportunity to be part of a big multi-game eSports event.
Although the initial response to the event seemed to be very positive, the Call of Duty 4 community has not been that quick to react and with just one week to go before the start of the event, there are only a very few amount of teams that have paid and none of Europe's top tier teams have shown signs of attending this event.
The costs for attending are not overwhelming, though, as apparently it is relatively cheap to fly to one of the many North-Eastern Italian airports with either Ryanair or EasyJet. European teams are also granted a spot in the TUP and with even more computers available than the 40 before, all of them should be able to attend and not have to worry about having a computer.
A total of 13 teams have already signed up for the tournament through the website, however, they still need to wire their entrance fee (€40 / player) to the organisation in order to be registered as a paid team. Ideally, all players of the teams should sign up on the website and then pay their entrance fee to the Ultimate Gaming Championship. However, with the time constraints, if teams interested in attending would simply contact the organisation through info[at]theugc[dot]it, they can work something.
Should the teams who had signed up on the list, not pay their entrance fees in time (before the start of the tournament), the Call of Duty 4 tournament is at odds of being cancelled altogether due to the very low amount of available teams. It would be a shame for a $5,000 tournament to suffer such a fate, should only three teams show up or so. Ideally, the organisation would be looking for at least 10 teams to attend the event.
