The CPL countdown has ended and it looks like the CPL brand and site will be going in a different direction

Despite some shocking revelations done by Tonya Welch not so long ago, all has gone a little bit quiet around the CPL. That has changed today however, as the counter they put on their website has expired and was replaced by a new statement concerning the future of the brand and the website. It appears that the CPL has been sold once more, now by an investment group called: WuLong Ventures Pte. Ltd. Involved once more is Frank Yong, who acts as Chairman of WuLong Ventures Pte. Ltd.

That once again the same people are involved is quite remarkable as now the same people have traded their own company back and forth between companies they had all been involved with on some level. This has left many doubting the new owners and the blog post by Tonya certainly did aid the CPL cause.

Within the press release it is stated that the CPL will be rebranded and will head into a new direction. "The CPL site will be organized around game communities and allow gamers to select which they would like to interact with. Each community will have various modules such as beta testing, content and leagues that are defined by the community itself." More of the plans will be revealed in the upcoming weeks but the most interesting part of the press release came at the end. The new CPL owners have committed themselves to paying out any yet unpaid prize money still owed by the CPL.

The following can be read in the statement released: "As we start to unveil our new course for CPL, the previous owners and we would like to show our commitment to the community and those that participated in the past CPL events by paying anyone who can prove that they did not receive their prize payments. These claims will go through a vetting process and be audited by a third party. The form to begin the process, if you feel you’re qualified, will be released this week as part of the CPL Portal rollout." Although this could mean good news for the people with outstanding prize money this could very well be just another smokescreen.

IF they pay out all the outstanding money, they would gain some credit in my book again, then again, they might just fuck them over for millions of dollars later on
