The website of the Antwerp eSports Festival has just gone live with more information on the competitions and the setup of the event.
Much anticipated by the competitive Call of Duty 4, Counter-Strike Source and Enemy Territory communities, the Antwerp eSports Festival will beyond a doubt become one of the major highlights of this summer. Taking place from the 30th of July until the 1st of August, 2010, the stage is set for one of the biggest competitions of the Benelux. With the launch of the website, more information is given on how to travel to the event, how the overall setup will be and when payments will open.
As stated on the Antwerp eSports Festival website, payments will open on Wednesday the 26th of May 2010 at 19:00. With
just 16 slots per tournament opening the slots will be awarded on a first come first serve basis. This basically means that each tournament starts off with a minimum of 16 slots that can be filled.
Because the organizers have only a limited amount of space and high end tournament PC's available, they have decided to let the signups determine which tournament will be awarded with more slots. Once the payments are opened, they will monitor the signups and judging by how fast each tournament fills up, the remaining slots will be granted to certain tournaments first. This ensures them that the most receptive communities are awarded with more slots and bigger prize purses.

cu all there =DD
got high expectations of it since 2008 was a blast!
AEF vs GJ
350€ vs 250€
same prizepot triggs
that's exactly why it's called business mate
business is for making money
I hope that's bait :|
32 × 250 = 8000
3200 euro difference, I doubt that the costs incurred by gamersject / aef are the same (croatia is cheap, isnt it?) As well as the possibility of a 144 team turnout stretched over 3 days (highly unlikely though) and the implications that has on the amount of TUP pcs needed... pretty dumb comment if you ask me. I could be wrong but w.e

I couldn't be assed to write or think about what steven posted below but I knew that it was all taken in to consideration when the €350 was posted..

crew costs such as hotels, food, drinks?
stage, setup, branding etc?
overall dressup of the event?
media costs?
I could go on for ages - I think the prices are quite fair in comparison to other small and big tournaments out there :)
Their standard is higher, but so are prices. 350€ is normal fee.
cba
Different events, different setups, different prizes. Only normal :)
Just like Jens has a higher entry fee with TEX due to Denmark being even more expensive!
Don't understand why someone needs to involve in other peoples job.
You have your GJect LAN, organise it the way you want, don't judge others how they organise their LANs.
And for sure if there is something that is not ok with gamers as comunity ( like entry-fees etc ), there is Vita Nova who will try to solve this.
Balkan Mentality ftw
the AEF is the largest COD4 tournament currently in Europe that's for sure, so any further discussion on the comparison of GJECT & AEF is currenlty silly
on-topic : hope to see you there!
