The Invites for Call of Duty 4

With the Antwerp eSports Festival drawing closer and closer we have decided to announce the invite list to the public. As you know, the Antwerp eSports Festival will have 48 team slots for Call of Duty 4. 16 Of those will be filled with an invite, the rest will be first come, first serve but more on that later. First let me present to you the full list of Call of Duty 4 invites for the Antwerp eSports Festival in no particular order:

Germany SK Gaming
Netherlands Komacrew (former DCC)
Sweden Fnatic
Canada EG
Belgium LowLandLions
Europe TEK9 Networks
United Kingdom Team Dignitas
United Kingdom MYM
United Kingdom Reason
United Kingdom 4kings
France H2K
United States Team Pandemic
United States neXus
Czech Republic eSuba
Denmark Roskilde Ravens
Poland UF Gaming

These teams will be contacted shortly on how they will be able to take full advantage of their invite. Invited teams can also contact me - tek9|dfb @ #tek9
Also, before you start the whine, these invites were not made by me and I will not give away any sources. Nor do the invites determine the seeding to be used at AEF. In fact, the invites mean practically nothing other then the fact that they have a little extra time to register and pay for the event.

Important information for other teams

All other teams will have to use the first come first serve if they wish to attend the event. Full registrations for the remaining 32 slots will be open on Sunday 11th of May 2008 at 19.00 CET. We will use bank transfer and all teams are strongly adviced to have online banking on hand to pay and thus reserve their slot. We do this to keep a level playing field between all teams coming from all over the world.

Furthermore, all teams will also need to register their team and all their players on the TEK9 website prior to paying for the event. Failure to do so can result in your slot going to another team even though you paid quicker! This also goes for the invited teams!

Other information for all

* The full AEF website will be released shortly with more information on various subjects and some very exciting news! Stay tuned for more information as it will be released one of these days!

* We strongly advice all teams / players to stay in the Hilton hotel. Not only will staying in the Hilton be cheaper then it has ever been, it also facilitates the event itself.

* There will be a 0 refund policy

* team tickets will be 350 € and will allow attendance for 5 + 1 persons.

I know the Hilton Hotel will make things more expensive, but going from €200 to €350 is quite a big leap imo!

GL to all teams!

i dont really understand why we prefer inviting americans to our (EU) LANs instead of European teams. They (USA) would't do the same, thats for sure.

The 200 € was used for OOF2. With the Hilton the expenses go up a lot. Not to mention the prize purse for this event is nearly 3 times as big. Furthermore the costs of living has increased a lot (7-8%) over the past year. Granted, it is quite a lot of money. But I urge you to look at the other top competitions out there and see how much they are charging. No offense/pun what so ever intended towards them, but TEX charges 500 € and iseries has 400 pounds (byoc).

+ we have a lot of things in store for you which will show you even more reasons why this increase in registration fee is required.
Oh and finally to put a few ideas in your head here.
* The rooms we have in the Hilton go for 25,000 € / 24 hours normally.
* The media and communication plan we have for this event includes TV commercials, radio, newspaper ads, magazine ads and online campaigns and the total value is above 350,000 €.
I'm not saying we are paying this much for all that but just to give you an idea here ;-)

Because those three teams are far superior to most EU teams. Why the hell would we "protect" EU teams?

inviting American teams is a great idea..dont look at it as if we are competing against America to have better teams, bigger lans etc. etc. Look at it as if we are all part of the one community :}
