The two great Scandinavians faced each other on the Grand Final of the WCG 2008 held a few weeks ago in Cologne, Germany. Back then the Danish team mTw managed to play the third and decisive map better and won the $50,000 match versus SK gaming with a 2-1 score.
Dreamhack Winter 2008 took place this weekend in Jönköping, Sweden with a €39,000 Counter-Strike 1.6 event that gathered 16 participants. There weren't many suprises throughout the group stage, apart from blank winning against SK Gaming 16-7 on de_train. With
pionas as a new addition to their line-up, the Polish team MYM weren't able to reach the finals but won a very intense bronze final against fnatic nevertheless.
As mentioned earlier, it was SK Gaming and mTw who made it onto the finals again. After the first half of the first map (de_dust2), the score on the board was 12 to 3 for mTw and things didn't look that bright for SK. When switching over to de_inferno, the Danes had settled a score of 16-10 and the Swedish had to win the map in order to win the money. Well, SK won the second map 16-5. The final map was de_nuke and it was only settled after two overtimes and it was crowned with
zet winning a 1on4.
