H2k Gaming came close to becoming the new champion of Call of Duty 4, but Fnatic closed out the final map convincingly and goes home with another first place. With Citystreets being H2k Gaming's map pick, Fnatic decided to jump into it head-on, giving it their all and thus hoping to knock H2k's confidence down, which seemed to work straight away as the fully Swedish team were not as loud and started becoming frustrated with the way they were losing rounds. Eventually, they got a round on the board, but the team definitely needed to step up its game if they were to come anywhere near to beating Fnatic on their own map.
It seems as if the young H2k Gaming side finally realized they had a fair and honest shot at beating Fnatic and becoming the number one, it might be possible that the nerves are starting to affect the troops of Adam "Mumma" Timle-Händel and it would be a shame if the Grand Final ended in a white-wash.
As of right now, the H2k Gaming side has had a weak defensive side and will definitely need to step up their game if they do not want to head home early, because they are currently down by 6 with a 09 to 03 scoreline in favour of Fnatic. The attack seems to favour H2k Gaming, though, as they keep clawing round after round back from the Fnatic side and they were yet to give up a round on attack until they hit a concrete Fnatic wall on B and in mid that put the score at 10 to 08 for Fnatic. The teams became more and more evenly matched, yet the Fnatic players still seemed to hold on to their lead, unwilling to give it up and adament of making this a short-lived Grand Final.
H2k Gaming let it slip in the end and had to concede a 08 to 13 loss on their map pick. Heading into Crash, H2k Gaming need to pull something special out of their bag if they want to go home with that first place finish.
Stevy "Stevy" Verheyen is looking to silence all critics who popped up after his Team-Dignitas game, starting almost each round with a frag against the H2k Gaming crossers, definitely playing a crucial role right now. Next to Stevy, Marcus "odyx" Nilsson seems to be having a good day and is solidly picking up frags here and there, giving a sense of peace of mind to the Fnatic defense on Crash.
With a 05-07 halftime score, there is still hope for H2k Gaming, who were looking out of place during the beginning of the first half but then started upping their game and took some interesting rounds. The time is now for H2k Gaming to prove to themselves and to all of the viewers that they belong at the very top of the scene and in order to do that, they will need to make this a close map or try and overcome Fnatic in the final map.
H2k Gaming immediately made up for it by getting four consecutive rounds and still find themselves in the lead even when Fnatic took back one round, so right now it is 09 to 08 for H2k Gaming. H2k Gaming refused to give in and did not want to go home yet, they played a strong attack and the map ended with a 13 to 09 score. We will now move over to Strike.
Without any hesitation, both teams readied up and were eager to get the final leg of this Grand Final underway. Unlike the two previous maps, no one team seems to run away with it and it is turning out to be a real close map, with the score tied up at 05-05. Fnatic manage to close out the half with a 07-05 score and head into the defensive side of Strike with a lead. Fnatic seem to have taken a big option on winning the match, with one more point needed to bring them on match point, they are not giving H2k Gaming any leeway and H2k will have to pull something incredible out of their bags to still end up as the winners. The rounds have gotten eerily quiet, though, with both teams reserving their cheering for the end of the round.
Fnatic pick up the next two rounds and H2k Gaming will need to forsake their hopes of winning a title today. Fnatic will rejoice over another win and will only confirm their position as the prime European top team. H2k Gaming on the other hand will have gained a lot of points as well as respect from the European community after the performance they brought to the table all tournament long.
