Russian Community Organize Own LAN

Posted by Paul WELLSY Wells on 2011-11-06 00:14:39

With the Winter LAN season having already started with the likes of FragLAN, Greece and ICL11, Hungary both proving a success with their local scenes, the Russian community have decided that it is their turn to continue the trend of what is starting to become one of the most active closing of the year for the Call of Duty 4 community.

The LAN itself is set in what can only be described as the capital of Russian culture, St. Petersburg. Where the teams will be battling it out at the Razezzhaya, IIC 59°57' Gaming Cafe. The event will be run over one day on Friday 26th November 2011 with games starting at 12:00pm local time. Sign-ups have already opened and will remain open until the Thursday before the competition starts.

The organisers have expressed that every bit of money put into the tickets will be going straight into the prizepot showing that this is a non-profitable event. Payment details will be sent via contact details that each team must leave on the relevant website with tickets going at 3500 rubles (€82.50) per team. The final winnings will be triggered with the first being ten teams where the top three will get their share of the 35000 rubles (€826) up for grabs.

At the current time it seems that the first trigger has indeed been reached with registered teams although payments have not yet been verifed. The following are the squads in question:

Russia Immunity
Russia SEKTOR
Russia LIFTED
Russia wZ [LAN]
Russia Team Prior
Russia eniGma
Russia eXperienced
Russia Epic File
Russia MCK.BRO
Russia Project eSports

The structure of the tournament will be the standard best of one groupstages where the play-offs will be implemented with a best of three maps. Prior.tv have also expressed their interest and will be streaming the event whilst also partnering up with RusCoD.ru and fOxz for media coverage including photo's and video interviews.
