Redbyte.nl Gone The Way Of The Dodo

Near the end of July, some Dutch experienced and known players decided to create a team that would be capable to hang with the best teams in Europe and attend as many events as possible over the course of the Summer. This team would set up a deal with the Italian organisation of Redbyte and would attend both Adroits CoD Masters and MSI Grunex European LAN.

The deal ended up being somewhat short-lived, as the players all had to get back to their normal rhythms as soon as the Summer was over and for most that included studying and doing their day-to-day jobs. Some of the key players in the team were therefore unable to spend some if any at all time on the game and the activity dwindled.

Since then, both Roy "ROYEz" Godschalk and Robin "robyYE" Swaters have gone out to say that they will be leaving the game and will not be involved with competitive Call of Duty 4 anymore. With two of the other players in the team having been comeback stories themselves, it's a safe bet that they will also be quitting the game and being away for good.

Whether or not any of them will be tempted to perform comebacks based on the potential success of the recently released Modern Warfare 3 game, is not sure. For now, though, there is one conclusion and that is that one of The Netherlands' best teams has decided to give up on Call of Duty 4 and will not been playing together anymore.

Roy "ROYEz" Godschalk prepared a lengthy statement about his exit out of the game for TEK9:

" After a 3 years long journey with a lot of up's and down's i decided to quit CoD4 as an active player. We only had 1 goal last May when almost our entire old lineup came back together after a break. Playing at the top and attending as much events as possible.
I personally knew it would be hard to achieve that because everyone in our team had many other commitments. Sander came back to the team after we won e-series and the BGLAN with Jim but the situation kept the same. We attented SAGE2 where we beat WinFakt but lost to Infused resulting in a 5/8 place. Grunex was great till the 12-9 score vs ACES. 4 hours later we got lucky to make it through the groups but lost 2 times in the playoffs the day after. Everyone in the team knew we couldn't play 15hours 5on5 every week and we didn't wanna attend events without proper practise.

With that being said, calling it a day was the only possible solution. I feel bad for the Italian redbyte managers who did a lot for us in the short time we played for them. I do want to continue the redbyte.nl project and with Logitech as partner you can expect to see us with new team(s). I want to end this statement saying thanks to the people who were all part of the team: maxy, bjorn, mean, XTCTJE, FrosteR, ImpreZ, ayokato, Saintje, versay, vince, aerox, eXo, Jim, Pietje, Prophcey, DRAGZZ, sANDERRR, DANNYDEKO bARTYEz and ofcourse Robin. I would also like to thank wizard, antwan, zenith, liqour, brian, kager, choobie, toxjee, vexzor, qinoa, sulu, roos, switcher, swedish h2k team, pazazu, vato, delroo, soose, preki and probably 50more.

Keep up the good work and CoD4 will have a fantastic 2012"

Robin "robyYE" Swaters gave out a public statement on the TEK9 forums about his quitting:

" Goodbye everyone, I wasn't really active for the last months but I got alot of questions what I was doing and where the fuck I was..Well, Im quits, I have a good 40hours a week job and girlfriend/football doesn't give me enough time to play anymore :-) I wish you all the best of luck and hope that you will achieve the ESWC / ESL big things once ;-) keep up the good work. xoxo , i'm out."
