A number of minor changes and bug fixes have been introduced by id in the weekly QuakeLive update. Although hardly controversial, the main change noticeable for most people will be the tweaked shotgun spread, the "inner ring now does more damage than outer ring, for a total of 110 damage". Another significant change is the addition of a number of damage feedback options, including a crosshair colour or pulse and an audible change in the hitsound depending on the damage done. Further details of the commands to activate these features can be found in the update log below.
The remaining changes include a range of useful bug fixes, particularly for Mac users who have had a tough time getting QuakeLive working since it was made available for their systems. Issues with the s_musicvolume and s_volume commands are also apparently resolved and the "disappearing flag" bug in CTF is set to become a thing of the past.
Despite these fixes, the update has come in for some criticism from the community for failing to introduce new maps or any changes to the TDM rulesets. ESL's reiterated determination to stick with TDM for its upcoming Major Series has only heightened the demand for competitive maps to rival those available for CTF. id Software have acknowledged these demands but have so far made no official statement.
