PwrCup: Phan Drop Quickly To New TCM-Gaming

Posted by Bob Bcrbo Van de Voorde on 2011-08-14 21:13:45

Although it is far from fair to claim this TCM-Gaming line-up as being completely fresh and new, as they have been playing together in some form or another for the last few weeks and some even the last few months, therefore it was definitely not a shocker to see them play as strong as they did.

What is definitely surprising to note was the inability of the Phantasmagoria team to speed up their game a bit on the attacking side of the map, with mp_strike usually giving you a quick game on the A entrance. However, Phantasmagoria tried to adopt the slow style into their game, with marginal success.

TCM-Gaming got off to a brilliant start defending either bomb sites, quickly racking up round after round without too many blockades thrown their way. Before everyone knew it, they were leading 07:00 in rounds and seemed to have this halftime and arguably the map already on lockdown. A last hurrah from the Europeans did see them pick up their first and even second round, with no more than three rounds going their way on the entire half.

Drawing up first conclusions, the Phantasmagoria side had Robin "robonz" Bakken who could not find the right vibe in this game and had serious problems finding the frags. There was no specific stand-out player on their side, except for Norman "zABZRWx" Dornier and Daniel "VAE" Ball who were giving the most resistance to the new TCM-Gaming line-up.

On the Swedes' side, it was the controversial and fan-favourite Chris "blackmane" Kinnair who was doing what he was known best for, racking up the scope shots and opening or saving his team the early rushes and pushes. He was leading the overall scoreboard come halftime and was probably the most on fire of everyone there, not being able to wait to start the second half.

As soon as the second half started, it seemed to go on another pace entirely, with Phantasmagoria being able to play closer on the defence, but had to concede the first round immediately. 10:03 now, they managed to claw back one and the match seemed to change into a swapping of rounds-kind of game. That all changed when the perhaps 'worst' performing Swede Andreas "azeo" Westerlund stepped up his game as well and started bringing the frags to the table. The rounds kept on coming for TCM-Gaming and they seemed adament to close this match out as quickly as possible, getting three in a row to give them the 13:04 final score.
