ESL have revealed details of the first QuakeLive invites for their upcoming IEM Asian Championship, including Chinese favourite Zhibo "Jibo" Fan and old-school Swedish star Cyrus "proZaC" Malekani. The latter is eliigible to compete due to his current residency in Japan in a similar situation to the one that saw Sander "vo0" Kaasjager compete at the North American finals in Edmonton. Other high profile attendees include Japan's best-known Quake player, Tahara "uNleashed" Naonobu, and UK player Joe "Fenda" Fender who also qualifies due to residency.
With no online stages, the Asian Championship finals take place from the 5th to the 9th of February at the Taipei World Trade Centre in Taiwan. Eight players in total will compete for the $4,000 on offer as well as two coveted spots at the global finals at CeBIT in March. "Jibo" is likely to remain the favourite but the reemergence of the famous TDM star and ESWC finalist "proZaC", known as "the p1mp", should liven things up.
