OOF4: Anexis eSports Take Semi-Final With Ease

In a match that probably followed up on the nerve-racking experience that was the YoYoTech - ROX[KIS] Semi-Final, as this would turn out to be a very anti-climatic experience, where Anexis eSports just emerged as a nearly invincible force.

Whilst YoYoTech were riding an emotional high, after having just beaten ROX[KIS] in a strong and thrilling affair, it most likely also drained them from their remaining energy and nerves, surviving a match that could have gone in the other direction at any given point during those final moments.

Anexis eSports on the other hand had no problems with their Quarter Final against TCM-Gaming and just went full-on ape sh** on the Swedish team and left them no breathing space whatsoever on both mp_backlot and mp_crossfire. The Swedes had to surrender quickly and unsatisfied, and the Hungarians were looking to fulfill their promise to come to this event storming and hungry for a first major tournament win.

They seemingly recovered well from their nightmarish travel experience yesterday and seem to play on an even higher level than the one from yesterday. Whether it will suffice to go all the way, is something we can only find out in some 30 odd minutes.

mp_citystreets

Not picking mp_backlot, as they were not sure what quite to expect from the randomish YoYoTech playstyle, they opted to pick the YoYoTech home map so far, mp_citystreets. Perhaps they felt confident after having watched them throw away an easy 2-0 map win versus ROX[KIS] and knew how to easily counter their Finnish comrades.

They were right, though. They knew exactly what they needed to do and the answer is as straightforward as could be. They just played their individual games and it served them well, as they were just outaiming and outplaying the Finnish on an individual as well as team level, possessing some extraordinary game sense. They always knew where to attack and where to not attack, where to peak and what to avoid on the map.

Especially FUTUREEE stepped up his game in comparison to yesterday, as he was the more common bottom fragger yesterday and had a really strong two games so far on Sunday. There was nothing much more to say about mp_citystreets, as it had a David versus Goliath feel to it, the version where the little guy gets smashed by the big dude and finds himself down under, six feet under.

mp_strike

Although the spirits in the YoYoTech camp plummeted quickly, they were confident that their best shot was still mp_strike, as it was a map that gave them some good and strong results in the previous matches. They could not calculate in the fact that Anexis eSports would just be better, though.

To be frank, it was even a more one-sided affair than the previous game. Although there were some nice moments, especially from both k1mi and rEplan, it was more a slaughtering than a real match-up of equals. This is not meant to demotivate the YoYoTech side or put them down, it's just a testament to how good Anexis eSports are playing in comparison and how much more interesting this event could have been, had Power Gaming, LowLandLions and/or Fnatic had attended as well.

In the last rounds, Anexis eSports had become so confident in their aim and skill, that they just did full-on rushes from the defensive side over the mid street, A site and through café to meet the already disappointed Finns head-on. The YoYoTech crew had no more fight or strenght left and just lost all the last rounds in a row. Some 7, from 4-6 to 4-13.

This then concluded the second and final Semi-Final of the Outpost on Fire 4 tournament. YoYoTech will have to try and recharge their batteries one last time, hoping to make the third place and walk away with some prize money at least. Anexis eSports on the other hand will be trying to just relax and not become too nervous, as they are just a throwing stone away from reaching their first major tournament win in Western-Europe.
