Right on schedule, the Grand Final was set to commence with the heavily favoured Anexis eSports on one side and the very unexpected challengers of CEFO in the other corner.
Nobody questioned Anexis eSports track record when coming into this Grand Final and anyone who watched them demolish YoYoTech on two maps the round before knew that they were simply on fire and ready to claim their first big European event. The players were all performing up to par and shining individually and as a unit, the team possessed over some eerie game sense, always knowing where the opponents are and what they are doing next.
Pitted against them were the dark horse of the event, CEFO. I had called them as reaching the Final Four in my preview and was convinced they might be the surprise of the tournament, and I believe they can rightfully be called so. The team took its Group B seeding to heart and were not content with only showing up and playing well, they wanted to leave a memory behind.
Although the Poles had fought hard and eagerly to reach the Grand Final by taking out Team WinFakt! and TheLastResort in their two previous Bracket matches, the Hungarian domination that was Anexis eSports could never be classified as being on the same page as those two teams. Therefore their biggest challenge would be taking revenge on the team that pushed them down to second place and the only team that handed them a loss in the tournament up until that point.
mp_crossfire
The Poles had great confidence in one of the team's strongholds, Someday.., as they quickly picked mp_crossfire as being the opening match of this final Bo3 of the tournament. However, the inexperienced scope knew he would have to play his heart out and play his bestest yet, as he would be facing arguably the strongest scope at the whole Outpost on Fire 4, the impressive Stormy of Anexis eSports.
In the opening rounds, neither scope would play a huge role, though, as the first round immediately went to Anexis when z1koX countered the onslaught of the Polish B attack by taking out four and securing the first point on the scoreboard. Slowly but surely, Stormy took charge of the map and was found scoping quite aggressively in order to pick off as many CEFO players as possible. Something he did convincingly, as the scoreboard read a 06 - 02 scoreline at one point.
People started writing CEFO off from then on forward, a logical, yet hasty decision. CEFO still wanted to bring something to the table and not be remembered for their easy submission in the Grand Final of an Outpost on Fire event. Through some good pushes on B and preventing the early picks, they could close out the half by being only down two rounds, making anything still possible.
Although that is technically true, the saying did not account for the desire of the Hungarians, who had now had a good night's rest and were hopeful of proving Europe their strong Gamersject Winter Challenge performance would be the yardstick from now on. They let the Poles tie up the game first, but then shifted into gear and took all six consecutive rounds to push them onto the magical map win. Map one was in the bag.
mp_backlot
The dreaded mp_backlot is up next. Dreaded because Anexis eSports is arguably the strongest team on it throughout Europe and will always be remembered for the sheer dominance that was the TheLastResort game. However quick the first map was over, the mp_backlot match-up would be over even more quickly.
Although it has to be said, during the first half, as Anexis eSports was put on defense, there were plenty of situations that could have gone the other way around quite easily. Yet they always went in favour of the Hungarians and that might be lucky, but it might also be a level of control that the Poles did not have yet. Especially the 2on3 where kZstar takes down all three of CEFO to win the final 1on2 situation was indicative of how dominant Anexis was.
When the tables turned, the match was as good as done, with FUTUREEE deserving a special mention for having some strong and impressive situations. Once more, Anexis took seven rounds in a row before CEFO could pull back one. It did not really matter in the end, though, as Anexis was already on map and match point by now and needed only one more. A final round that was theirs immediately after, as the bomb exploded.
Anexis now jumped up, screamed to the top of their lungs and were visibly relieved to have won the match. The match was never quite out of their control, it has to be said and CEFO just tried to do what they could, but there was no team at Outpost on Fire 4 that had the skills to take away the title from this Anexis eSports line-up.
CEFO in itself can be extremely content with their decision to attend this event, though. They came to Belgium as the one team nobody was sure about and shut up all critics instantly. They even proved anyone wrong that said it was a one day thing, after their impressive Group Stage run, taking down two of the strongest Western-European teams there in a row.
Congratulations to Anexis eSports for winning and to CEFO for having gone that far in the tournament.

It's true if you lost everyone would think omg what a fail, but its so obvious that you would win this event because your teams skill level + teamplay is rly high compared to the other teams there :D
but the way he said...
I dont think it would have been "the most embarrassing lan lose in history" if we had come 2nd or 3rd
