Following in a string of new year signings, today another big organisation has invested back in the Call of Duty 4 scene with the addition of a new side. In what can only be considered good news for a scene that some considered dead and buried only a few months previously, the large Scandinavian organisation
northwave have today announced their brand new Call of Duty 4 team.
The Scandinavian scene has been all but dead recently, and with any luck news such as this will invigorate the scene up in the freezing wastes. With the ever popular TEX event scheduled to take place again this year the opportunities are definitely there for an ailing scene.
The team has been playing together for a little while now, but has already achieved some good results. The side, known until now as Hekkers, has had some trouble finding a permanent fifth, but with the added support and publicity of their new organisation it shouldn't be too hard for them now. Perhaps the best-known player included in the lineup is
Nick “Hellbabz” Goldenbeck Andersen, known primarily for his time in the old Mamut.si team before they left to join Hostile Faction. The other players are more "below-the-radar", but are nevertheless a strong side and one to look out for.
For the time being they are going to confine themselves primarily to online play, as they won't have the time to pick up a new 5th and bond as a team before the next big event, CIC7. However, if the team can manage good online results and get a stable, active lineup going then there is a good chance we could see them at the summer events.
*UPDATE* - As expected, it did not take the team long to find a final team member! They are now proud to announce
Anton “antz” Standert as their final member.
The new northwave Call of Duty 4 team is therefore as follows:
Daniel “kummeh” Aaseng
Einar “dubz_” Dahl
Mikkel “mikkel” Høgholt Vester
Nick “Hellbabz” Goldenbeck Andersen
Anton “antz” Standert
We wish the team the best of luck in their new organisation and in their search for a fifth player.
Statement André “FROZN” Vikaskag (Team Manager): “As we entered this new year, we were looking for a org that could support us in the ways we wanted. Well, we found that org in the form of Northwave, who have a good history with different teams. We are looking forward to taking part in this fine org and are hoping to live up to their expectations of us. I want to thank Northwave for giving us this wonderful opportunity and believing in us. All the best wishes from Hekkers, now known as Northwave!“
