As some of you might have noticed or might not have noticed we have somewhat of a split between communities for
Outpost on Fire 3. Call of Duty 4 is filling up nicely and we should easily reach and breach the 24 teams mark – bringing up the prize purse to 6,000 € and possibly even 8,000 €. Counter-Strike Source however is not going equally well. With only 5 teams fully paid up we are miles away from reaching the 24 or 32 milestone, let alone the 16 teams milestone which makes the event viable for us. That is why I decided to make a couple of statements to the Counter-Strike Source community.
The event
WILL happen – everything has been set up and there is no going back for us. The event will take place! The initial 4,000 € cash prize purse
IS guaranteed whether we reach 16 teams or even when we have just 5 teams attending. Prizes should also be paid out within two months after the event has ended. If we don’t reach 16 teams the prize purse will come out of our own pocket sto support the teams who did attend as we don’t want to A: slash the prizepurse or B: cancel the whole thing. For us our credibility within the eSport community is very important and that is why we would do this.
That being said, if we do have a disappointing amount of teams show up, we will also draw our conclusions towards future events. We are planning on a lot more events for multiple games, Counter-Strike Source being one of the options. If we see the community is too unstable for this we will draw our conclusions. For instance we are planning another event in the Hilton and last time we were able to put up 25,000 € cash up for grabs, 20,000 € of which went to Call of Duty 4. We are planning similar things in the future for Counter-Strike Source but if the community wants it they need to show us the commitment as well.
Antwerp is a great city and Outpost on Fire is a community based events where the players not only play some games but have loads of fun when clubbing, shopping or generally hanging out. The location, the very heart of one of the most vibrant cities in Belgium, is simply perfect. Considering the timing it might be not the best with TEX and i-series also presenting themselves the weeks after but if you look at the sheer price of attending one of those events and that of our event OOF should come on top as the cheapest one to attend by far. Food and stay in Antwerp can be very cheap (doesn’t mean it’s bad by no means) and travel to Belgium can be done by car for most but flights are cheap too.
Our crew is also on hand to help you with any travel issues you might have or any other questions. Don’t hesitate to ask.
All we ask from the community is some commitment to show up – paying your reserved slot would be the first step to doing this (or reserving one when you haven’t done so yet).
Hope all the cod2 teams keep their promise and pay as well, but that's looking good so far!
