North America's big names are struggling on day two of the IEM World Championship, with early favourite Tim "DaHanG" Fogarty narrowly avoiding elimination as he finished group B in third. The EG star claimed just a single map win from his games versus Europe's Alexey "Cypher" Yanushevsky and Magnus "fox" Olsson and was forced to dig deep against Kevin "strenx" Baeza to grab the final spot in the relegation playoffs.
Thomas "griffin" Wall and Brian "dkt" Flander were also underwhelming, with neither making any kind of impact on the group other than the latter's 2-1 victory over "fox" with the Swede already assured of second place. They were joined by "strenx" in the bottom three, who will look back on a 2-0 defeat to "fox" as a missed opportunity after being dubbed a darkhorse by many for this event.
Next up, Group A resumes after yesterday's technical difficulties with the USA in hope of better results as Shane "rapha" Hendrixson prepares to take on Russian superstar Anton "Cooller" Singov. Maciej "av3k" Krzykowski, Alessandro "stermy" Avallone and Zhibo "Jibo" Fan will also be in action as the QuakeLive gets underway in earnest at CeBIT.
