Multiplay relaunch COD4 pickups

After the decline of COD4 pickups around 8 months ago, Multiplay are happy to announce the relaunch of the COD4 pickup channel.

For people who dont what pickups are, I will give you a brief introduction along with a guide on how to participate in the pickups. Pickups or pug for short is a quick way to get a 5v5 match. 10 people add up to the MPUK bot and the bot splits the players up into 2 teams and a map is voted between the players. There is also a ventrilo with seperate channels to join, so communication is easy.

For people who don't know how to play pickups here is a brief guide:

- Join the IRC channel, #mpukcod4.pickup at quakenet. Remember you must be authed. Here is a link to help you get authed on quakenet - http://forums.multiplay.co.uk/showthread.php?t=60107
- Join Ventrilo 3.0. To get the information for the ventrilo, just type !vent in the irc channel.
- To join the game type !add to add yourself to the bot and if you want to be removed type !remove and to vote for a map type !vote then the map name eg. !vote strike
- When there are enough players added, the bot will tell you what server to play on and what team. You then join the right channel in Vent for your team and server, and join that server in your game.

It's as easy as that.

The map pool for the pickups will be the 5 stock maps and also 2 custom maps which will come later on.

We will be looking for admins. The requirements are, be chilled, be active and most important have fun. If you think you have those requirements then message tek9|wizinium, Rob` and Fatal^ in the pickup channel and we will see how you get on.

Statement from Multiplay's Rob "Rob" Hodson: "It's been quite some time since the pickups were really active and considering the recent resurgance in the CoD4 scene it felt like the right time to bring it back. We've had it running for a few days to see how things go and it seems that plenty of the old regulars have made their return, resulting in a rediculously busy Sunday.
