MSI BEAT IT tournament rescheduled

MSI have organized several tournaments through their BEAT IT tournament series and originally, it was planned to host a big LAN with all qualified teams in attendance in Beijing, China. However, after the Quake Live qualifier found its players, problems arose.

Apparently, ID Software were unable to spawn LAN servers at the event and that made the organisation of MSI cancel the event and the Quake Live community responded with frustration at another bad public showing of ID Software. Especially the winner of the tournament, Marcel "k1llsen" Paul, outed his anger at a missed opportunity to show off a real strong LAN performance in an interview posted last week.

MSI, in the mean time, have been working hard at finding a solution, not wanting the tournament to have to be cancelled and seem desinterested in the Quake Live scene. Earlier today, the organisation then announced that they would be moving the tournament to a later date, namely during the DreamHack Winter event.

For this event, they will be looking to increase the total amount of players by 8 players, which will happen on an invite-only basis. We can expect further announcements and details to be announced about that in the near future. On a sidenote, MSI BEAT IT has also once more confirmed the $10 500 prize purse for the Quake Live event as well as an MSI GT660 as an added bonus for the winner.

As soon as there are further updates about the event, we will let you know right here.

Also yeah, ID's LAN support so far has been abysmal.
