Over 40 teams came to Telford, hoping for glory, fame and honour. But not everyone of them wouldl eave fulfilled, and we have whittled them down to just 3 remaining hopefuls, all vying for the coveted title of iSeries champion.
TCM-Gaming have come out on top of the pile, having already secured themselves a place in the grand final tomorrow morning with their win over Memia.Infused Tt in the Upperbracket Final. Infused were therefore relegated to the Consolidation final.
Waiting for them are FragMasters. FragMasters came up against OTR in the Lowerbracket final, a team they had previously smashed 16-8 in the groups. the game started on citystreets, FM's pick. They swiftly went 5-0 up before everything went horribly wrong. OTR won 7 rounds in a row to take it to 7-5 in their favour. It was an uphill struggle from there, as the now enthused OTR side seemed to be performing much better. They had 3 match points with the score at 12-9, but somehow FM found it within themselves to bring the game back to a a tied 12-12 scoreline. Overtime loomed, and FM took it in their trademarked calm and collected style, 4-2. moving onto strike, FM were embolden by their success and absolutely rolled an OTR that seemed litttle more than a shadow of their former selves. With a final score of 13-4, FM could rest easy in the knowledge they had secured themselves at least 3rd place and a shot at greater glory with a place in the Consolidation final.
Now Infused will be looking over their shoulder with a troubled gaze, as FM have proven themselves a very stong side. Infused have teamwork on their side, but so do FragMasters. In fact, this game will be reasonably evenly matched. Whichever side wins, they will need to produce something special over and above that which their opponents can conjure up.
The hour is late, and FragMasters have certainly been pushed much harder than Infused. That said, that is their penalty for dropping out of the Upperbracket before Infused did. FragMasters' playstyle is very relaxed, but could we see the pressure, long hours and fatigue start to get to them? Infused meanwhie have had their top seed status resoundly rebuffed by TCM, and while the second map of their encounter was very close, the first was much less so. Whether TCM showing that there are no untouchable teams in the tournament was probably inevitable, it could nonetheless have a psychological effect on Infused. Both teams will be playing a battle of wits and mental strength just as much as a game of CoD4.
So we will have to wait and see what this game has in store for us. it is due to start shortly, and as it stands there doesn't appear to be a stream forthcoming. You will have to wait with baited breath until we can update the scores at the end of the match, so done bite your nails too close to the bone ladies and gentlemen.
