Network problems are plaguing Multiplay's insomnia40 LAN event, causing widespread disruption.
Starting a few hours ago, network problems have been causing havoc in Newbury. The people attending finally got working internet early on Friday morning. Since then, the internet has been sporadically on and off, much to the irritation of players.
A knock-on effect of the network troubles has meant that LAN servers have not been working properly. There have also been issues regarding the functionality of servers, some of which have been reported to have been damaged in transport. Despite Multiplay's best efforts, not a single game has yet been played in the CoD4 tournament. It was scheduled to start at 14:00 BST today, but has now been rescheduled to start later on this evening.
Multiplay are remaining tight-lipped about the situation, but the internet is now back online, allowing us to talk to those inside the event.
We talked to

Peter "
ptER" Mathers who is playing with vital.dBGamez at the event:
"A number of server racks were damaged during transport, and unfortunately they only had a limited amount of backup racks. Until they resolve the server issue the CoD4 tournament can't go ahead. The internet has been unstable for the duration of the event due to a technical issue. As of right now they have had to revert back to the previous connection until the issue can be resolved. The staff aren't allowed to give official statements, but I got this information confirmed by an MPUK techy."
As you can see, there are likely to be lengthy delays until the CoD4 tournament starts as normal. TEK-9 will endeavour to keep you updated.

After numerous delays the COD4 tournament is due to start at an estimated time of 8:00GMT. The servers major issues have been overcome with only a few technical errors still remaining, this includes patching the correct server profiles and connecting the servers to clanforge.

After a tannoy announcement called a meeting outside the bar, Multiplay staff have announced that the games may not start tonight. Unfortunately the Multiply staff are still battling server issues which may not be overcome until later tonight. If the servers cannot be fixed before 9:00GMT the competition will be re-scheduled to begin at 10:00GMT on the saturday morning, creating a very tight schedule.

MPUK been there since Wednesday........thought they would of sorted this
the only reason they make so much money is because it is the ONLY real lan in the UK... wizzos head is so far up his own arse its untrue...
I tried getting a explanation of him for i38
he said 'we are the only company that does 1500+ LANs in the UK, we can do what we like'
that is the general attitude of the paid staff, most of the volunteers are there for a free LAN

heard they barely got promod, this lan is poo mate even if there was scorebots, you shouldn't see them
We all knew it was going to be bad, the prize pot is shite and the farce with the servers was typical.
I've contacted the spirits, and from what I gather, they recommend another company start up a LAN event, and stay well away from Multiplay and their whole half-arsed set-up and charge only half the price of what Multiplay are for their tickets and double the prize pot.
Us foreigners know that the i-series is shit, that's why we don't travel to the UK purely because of the fact we know it's a bad LAN event, probably the worst.
So yeh, for all of you out there who thought it was "Going to be a blast" and "Lot's of fun" - IT'S NOT, IT'S THE i-SERIES..
its actuali terrible and SHAMEFUL that they can only produce this...mess.
Funny thing is, most of u will go again next time.
Thats more of a joke.
and ye i will go to i41 because i get to see alot of people i would like to see on a more regular basis! Thats the main reason D:
