The match starts off with FORIN BEGGARS on defence, and fm! on attack. From the get go it becomes immediately apparent how inseparable these teams are. Both teams are playing cautiously. The score does not seem to favour either side, with 2-2 being followed by 3-3, and then 4-4. Tom “d1ablo” Newman turns to me in confidence and tells me that this will be a 13-10 fragmasters victory. Unlikely, I think. We will have to wait and see. It looks like this will be another round for FORIN BEGGARS, but Leonidas “killzx” Kyrkos goes huge to win it back for fragmasters. Could this be the start of the deadly fragmasters comeback? Will we see fm repeat earlier performances, and suddenly step it up a gear? The first few rounds follow the pattern of previous games. Fragmasters’ lack of discipline and tactics means that there are distinct holes in their defence.
FORIN BEGGARS take full advantage o this, and for the first time we start to see them pull away from fragmasters. 7-7 becomes 10-7 as fm! lose a few 2v2s. The comms just don’t seem to be there. At 10-8, we see Killzx in another clutch situation, but this time he can’t make it. 11-8, and for FORIN BEGGARS the finishing line is in sight.
Early picks go FORIN’s way, and fm! find themselves 3v5 down. Capitalising with a deft push though the map, FORIN take the round to give them match point. It’s 3v2 in Fragmasters’ favour. Enter SWAGGA. He takes down 2 fm! players to make it a 1v2. A swift rotation leaves Mark “mark” Horner on the wrong side of the map to counter their B plant. He gets over there, drops one of the BEGGARS only to meet his end at SWAGGA.
A tumultuous cheer rattles the building. FORIN BEGGARs are through to the Consolation final, where they face a 4 man Dignitas team. Fragmasters will have to settle for 4th place, and prize money of £176.
