Leonidas "
killzx" Kyrkos to ask a few questions about his experiences.
Hey, thanks for giving up your time to do this. So, let’s cut straight to the chase. 4th place - are you happy?
Not really, can definitely do better, dissapointed with our performance in pretty much every game but I'm sure we'll improve over the next few weeks/months
Your first loss was against watch and learn in overtime. After an epic comeback, the wind really seemed to come out of your sails in overtime. What happened?
They just showed a lot more discipline than us in pretty much every aspect of their game, they stopped giving away early picks and didn't over push. We didn't follow suit.
After that you were knocked into the lowerbracket. You beat off UV-Gaming to end up in the lowerbracket final against FORIN BEGGARS. Talk us through the game.
Was an entertaining game all round. Can't say that backlot was favourable for us but don't think it was especially good for them either. We had some good rounds based on clutches and one or two good rounds based on teamwork but those were few and far between. As with our other games and as was pointed out by pretty much every spectator, our defence had holes the size of buildings which Forin beggars exploited effortlessly. They played well individually and as a team and we definitely deserved to lose.
You’ve played this event with 2 mixers. Firstly, why aren’t twist and germaine playing, especially as germaine has come to spec on at least one day?
Twist is unabled to come to any of the upcoming lans this year and germaine left to concentrate on sucking the emotion out of the united kingdom's population en masse. Vae and raivz aren't really mixers, except in the sense that we have only had 1-2 weeks to integrate them into the lineup, we're carrying on with the same team after the LAN and hope to build off what we've learned here at i40.
In your roster as a backup player is Will “will” Nye. Why wasn’t he playing here instead of one of the mixers?
Will wasn't able to come to this event due to holiday commitments and is unlikely to be able to play actively anyway due to university so finding new players to replace twist and g seemed the logical choice.
Why VAE and raivz?
I've played extensively with vae before and definitely wanted him in the team after adam went to more of a backup/sensei role. Raivz was a less obvious choice but after playing with him for a few days we found we enjoyed his company on vent and his skill level definitely made him a viable choice, both players fit in well!
Did you practice much beforehand with the 2 mixers?
We had about 2 weeks of sporadic practice, probably a similar amount of time to plenty of the teams at the event so wouldn't see that as too much of an excuse, but we definitely didn't have more than basic strats for any of the maps and had only played crossfire once prior to the event. So yeah, the practice could have been better.
In a lot of your games, it has been your teamwork that has let you down. Is that a fair comment?
Definitely, individually I doubt that any of the teams that have played against us would say that we are weak, but I'm sure they were slightly surprised by how poorly we handled certain situations, the ease with which teams were able to pick us apart mid round demonstrated exactly how poor our teamwork was and that will certainly be the main thing to work on after the event.
Overall, are you happy with your performance at the event?
No.
Concise and honest. What do you think of the way the tournament has been run?
I think the tournament admins did their best, but hardware issues caused a bunch of problems and sitting around all day friday was a bit vexing.
On that theme, Team Dignitas were forced to play with 4 after phantasy left due to family problems at home. The admins did not allow them to get a mixer in. In your opinion, was that a fair decision?
No, I don't think it was an entirely fair decision, regardless of the fact that they won they should have been allowed to play with a mixer, it isn't like they were going to bring someone in that was significantly better than their other players.
Are there any teams which really surprised you at this event, either positiviely or negatively?
Not really, every team we played was pleasant enough ingame and out and we enjoyed playing against them. Would have enjoyed it more if iseries didn't have this '24 round games' rule that meant we were playing solidly from early afternoon saturday until about 2am.
The tight scheduling might have been bad for you, but I was still writing newsposts at 3:30, let alone 2! Anyway, I digress. What about players, was there anyone who really surprised you with their performance here?
I seem to remember wellsy was particularly strong against us and robye was typically good on stage in the final. Outstanding player of the tournament clearly mark horner though, solid silenced uzi play throughout the tournament despite the constant questioning/complaining from his teammates. People should learn from his perseverance.
What do you think of the way MPUK handled the server problems, and the subsequent rescheduling of several prize tournaments?
I don't know all the details so can't really comment, other than to say I was bored sitting about all day friday. Only thing I would have liked is if the cod players could have entered the hon tournament, would have had an easier job winning that.
Assuming a CoD4 tournament is held at i41, will you be attending?
Depends on the prizepot and attending teams, would be nice to see another iseries of i36's calibre but that's an unrealistic expectation so will just have to wait and see.

FYI, pretty sure this is why they weren't allowed to use a sub when pretty much all the other teams were happy for them to do so.

As for phan you can speculate as much as you like. i saw him Friday night and he looked a mess. not someone that had a few joints mess something a little stronger me thinks.
