Matt "wargasm" Hazell previews the grand final of the Call of Duty 4 tournament here at Multiplay's insomnia40 LAN event. After 2 days of Call of Duty4 action, we have whittled it down to just 2 teams.
That's right, here at Multiplay's insomnia40 LAN event we have reached the Grand Final. We've had thrilling games, epic comebacks and some real shock results. But standing above the carnage beneath them are two teams:
watch and Learn and
Team Dignitas.
Watch and learn qualified through the upperbracket. This means they only have to win one map to take home the glory. As the sixth seed for the event, they have done remarkably well to get this far. With victories against both top seeds Team Dignitas in the upperbracket final, as well as defeating seed 2
Fragmasters in their semi-final, they have claimed numerous scalps this event. They have 3 big advantages going into this match. Obviously, they only need to win one map, and they have an extra player. But in addition to all this, they have no pressure on them. Even if they lose, they will place 2nd and take home over £500 of prize money.
Dignitas have had an interesting event. Playing with a mixer to begin with their problems got worse when Mark "
phantasy" Pinney had to leave the event due to family problems. Multiplay forbade them to use another mixer, meaning they have played the whole playoff bracket with only 4 players. Getting to the final is a remarkable achievement, even for players of their talent.
Other teams have come close, but only waL have actually beaten the 4 men. This is, therefore, a grudge match. Dignitas will be eager to make up for their mistakes on backlot, and take home the title for the second time in a row. The community in general has been quite negative about the decision to force Dignitas to play with 4, and so they have a lot of support going into this match.
Whoever wins, they will definitely deserve it. The match starts at 13:00 on the main stage, so if any of you reading this are here at i40, come down and give it a watch!
