This post is long overdue, but here goes:
Our forums have not been our main point of focus, for various reasons (one of them being that we are usually fairly busy with the site content itself), but that is no excuse if you look at the state the forum is in right now.
I don't want to take anything away from the users that do contribute and treat other people with respect, and luckily there are plenty of those. However, a number of people show no respect, are intolerant and abusive and have been ruining it for everyone.
The only thing they accomplish is scaring others away from the site, and the CoD4 community. The complete TEK9 crew really put their heart and soul into this site and our main intention is to support the CoD4 community and make sure our users have a site they enjoy coming back to. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for people to actually behave and treat others the way they want people to treat them.
This is a community site and we want people to talk freely and openly, without being abused or laughed at. If people have questions, it’s our job to help them or at least make them aware of the search function.
Since the number of people being abusive and what not has only increased as of late it’s time we take action. No more flame, racism, spam, pornography, abuse or fake accounts. We will not be very tolerant and we will be handing out warnings and if needed one to four week bans (even without prior warning).
In the coming days we will be adding several new forum admins. We are overwhelmed by the number of people that send in an application for a position of newswriter and / or forum moderator (50+) and would like to thank everyone for wanting to help.
With regards to the users attempting to trick others into downloading a keylogger. We have a duty of care and Heaven Media have reported the people in violation to the appropriate authorities. What they do with this information is of course up to them, but we sincerely hope they take corrective action.
