Each Wednesday, the best of the best in Europe face each other in the ESL Intel Extreme Masters European Championship. This week was set to feature matches from Playday 4, however, Quake Live had different plans and disrupted the matches' progress the entire evening.
We were supposed to see a whole barrage of Duel as well as TDM matches take place, but after Quake Live had received another major update the night before, technical difficulties forced the matches to be delayed and postponed to a later date. In the update, it was mentioned that the Quake Live system had been moved to an entirely new back-end system and it is now expected to be the main reason for all the lags and problems with Quake Live yesterday evening.
Excerpt out of Quake Live Update Changelog:
"We have migrated our database over to an entirely new back-end system. This should not affect site functionality, and everything should work as it did before. Various back-end daemons have been brought out of the database into their own subsystems for scalability."
After all the problems, the ESL decided to postpone all the matches to Sunday 21st November by default. However, many of the players have already taken initiative and rescheduled the matches for later today, as the problems seem to have been eliminated sometime late last-night.
