i37: TCM top Team Dignitas in consolation final

After 2 days of epic Call of Duty 4 action, we are slowly reaching our conclusion. WIth just 3 teams left, swedish TEX winners and OOF3 runners up fnatic.MSI have already secured their place in the grand final, after beating Team CoolerMaster in the upperbracket final.

This means TCM are knocked down into the consolation final, where they will have to play Team Dignitas to get another chance to beat the swedes.

*UPDATE* - As predicted, TCM beat Dignitas to claim their place in the Grand Final.

Match Preview

Coming into this game are two strong sides, each capable of pulling off a win. However, the reason why these sides are so good differs immensenly.

Team CoolerMaster have had a very stable lineup for some time, and have built up an excellent in-game relationship. Their strength is in their team play, and their well learned tactics and strats for each map.

Conversely, Team Dignitas have pretty well no definite tactics at all. They are not playing with ther full lineup, and havent played with the main 5 on any summer event so far. However, each of the Dignitas players posesses a strong natural talent for the game, and it is this that makes them such formidable opponents. Their unpredictable behaviour has been the downfall of many teams this LAN.

The teams met earlier this event in the Upperbracket semi final, where Team CoolerMaster came out on top. Dignitas' seemingly random play was both their greatest friend and worst foe. At times their manouveres took TCM totally by suprise, and Dignitas ripped through them.

But all too often the lack of co-ordination saw them fall like a wave on the rock of the TCM defence. The question is, how much have Dignitas learnt, and how much have they gelled as a team this LAN? In their most recent game against Team Infused, they were still too incostinent to pull a significant lead over them. However, they eventually one simply on the grounds of the players' individual skill and experience. In the last round, they were 12-11 up when VAE rushed middle and took 2 Dignitas players down, seemingly paving the way for an overtime showdown. However, Raz was sitting on A and in a matter of seconds demolished the Infused attack by takin down 3 players. Disheartened, Infused didn't recover and lost the round and thus the game.

The map is mp_backlot, one TCM's strongest. Without a doubt on of TCM's best players is phantasy, who's SMG seems to be ever on fire on this map. Dignitas are a strong side on Backlot, but this is one of TCM's best so they definitely have the advantage.

To conclude, this game will be a proving ground for the Dignitas team. We will see if they have learnt anything as a side over the past 2 days, and whether they picked up enough in their game against TCM to overcome them. TCM are reeling for their crushing 13-06 defeat against fnatic and will be pumped up to win this on so they can get revenge on the swedes. I think this will be a close game, even if the scoreline doesn't show it, but the deft teamplay and calm play style of Team CoolerMaster will triumph in the end. TCM to take it 13-09.
