With the increasing interest in live coverage, the number of spectators watching streamed matches of their favorite games continues to grow, resulting in the start up of several brand companies providing live video streaming over the internet. With a lot left to learn for most recent start-ups, Paul
"ReDeYe" Chaloner of Quadv looks to promote shoutcasting and help anyone who feels he has something left to learn with his 20-page minibook "So you want to be a shoutcaster?".
In his book, ReDeYe, who we all know as one of the best and most respected video game commentators, discusses practically everything you need to know about shoutcasting, from the basics of setting-up to more advanced material such as the styles and techniques you can use and the keys to success.
A small snippet of the book:
"Never lose sight of why you wanted to do this job as it’s likely you will be passionate about gaming, or perhaps just one particular game. Passion is as important in commentating as preparation is. You can spend 2 months preparing for a tournament and know every single thing about someone, including the colour of their dog and their inside leg measurement, but if you aren’t passionate about the games or the players or teams or league, then you aren’t going to come across that way either. How can you possibly expect to enthuse others about gaming if you aren’t enthused yourself?
It is, as I see it, one of the fundamental reasons I commentate and also a responsibility that I feel in my own small way that I can spread the passion of gaming to others outside of it, to enthuse them through my own enthusiasm as it were."
