Third ranked team on G7 Ranking and world giant
Fnatic is about to go through roster changes for the first time in two years. The red hat legend Oskar "
ins" Holm will be leaving the team, two years after joining to fill the void left open by Kristoffer "tentpole" Nordlund departure.
According to Fragbite.se, Oskar will be leaving professional gaming to focus on online poker, one of his long time passions. He made his mind last month while spending a well deserved vacation on Thailand along with now former team-mate Harley "dsn" Horwall and a friend.
Swedish star Christopher "
GeT_RiGhT" Alesund is the one that will fill in the void left open by Holm's departure. Alesund has been a crucial piece on Giants' latest performances at EPS Scandinavia Season I, the team is currently holding the first place and just arrived from the first iFGN in Copenhagen where they crushed AndThenSome with a clear 16-04.
This move is obviously a major blow for
Giants' aspirations, if they will be able to recover and find a suitable fifth to fill in Alesund's shoes is still unknown, the team will now start to look into their options.
Concerning Oskar, time will tell if this was a wise move, maybe in a couple of years we will hear from him cashing in a million dollar check, maybe not. Wouldn't be the first professional gamer to be successful in poker. Ivan "SouL" Demidov, former SK WC3 player, is the perfect example after getting 6 million dollar richer two months ago.
For now, the spotlight is on Fnatic's side as everyone waits for the official announcement of the following lineup:
Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg
Harley "dsn" Örwall
Oscar "Archi" Torgersen
Patrik "cArn" Patrik
Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund
update: Just moments ago, Fnatic confirmed the change on their website. Oskar is leaving the Counter-Strike 1.6 team but not the organization as he will take a role in the management team from now on.
