Fnatic Lose TDM, Reason-Gaming Profit

Possibly the biggest name team in Quake Live, even though their successes were no match for 4Kings' success streak, has now decided to move away from both Team DeathMatch and Capture The Flag in favour of their Duel team. This put two of Fnatic's players out on the street and resulted in another shift in rivalling teams.

One of those teams who managed to take advantage of this news is Reason-Gaming, the very newest top-end Quake Live Team DeathMatch team who immediately moved in on David "deus" Kinnaird. The Fnatic player had already played with Reason-Gaming in some previous tournaments as a stand-in and therefore the move might not surprise all too many avid followers. However, the end of one of the game's most successful and big-name teams will surely have saddened some of the fans of the scene.

All this could be tied to the oncoming DreamHack Summer 2011 event which is rumoured to have the biggest Team DeathMatch tournament in Quake Live to date and has put a spring in most teams' steps, with roster changes and player swaps as a handily result. The Fnatic team had one of the strongest rosters, but were also seen as one of the laziest teams in terms of practice and time they put in working on their game, which might have also played a role in their decision to call it a day.

What will happen to Pierre-Emeric "link1n" Portier is yet to be determined, as he will only retain his role of photographer and video editor in Fnatic and will not be playing for the organisation anymore. The friendly Frenchman will surely be picked up by one of the big name teams, as he is considered by many to be one of, if not, the strongest players in Team DeathMatch and it is highly unthinkable that he would miss out on the DreamHack Summer event.

Austria Richard "noctis" Gansterer
Sweden Patrik "zyv" Sirén
United Kingdom David "deus" Kinnaird

United Kingdom Daniel "ddk" Kapadia (Back-up)

The fresh Reason-Gaming player, David "deus" Kinnaird, had the following to say about his new home:

" I'm really looking forward to playing with Reason Gaming, a team which I'll be playing with noctis/fazz/zyv at dreamhack this coming summer for TDM. They are a group of people who I get on with very well and have the same goals as me. I'd like to thank fnatic for looking after me and understanding why i had to make this choice."

Upon leaving Fnatic, Pierre-Emeric "link1n" Portier, had something to say about his departure too:

" Well I guess we saw that coming - the lack of team game competition in QuakeLive forces us to make some decisions and unfortunately, this is the reason my mate deus and I are leaving the QL squad of fnatic. Unless I start playing duel seriously, I can't see any reason for me to stay in fnatic. But we don't really know what QuakeLive will bring and I don't see big chances anytime soon. Too bad I didn't see the potential of that game.
For my part, I'll still be working for this organization so no, I'm not leaving the family yet, and I wouldn't anyway! They've been very awesome with me, especially with the support from MSI, SteelSeries, BigFoot Networks, Raidcall and Slappa, I feel at home. In a nutshell, I'll stay in this warm home as a video maker and editor - I'll still do what I've done the past events!"
