fnatic, 4K, LowLandLions and SKZI Gaming are first in line for the new ESL Major Series season for QuakeLive TDM.Last season's champions, fnatic, and the other top four finishers will be joined by twelve teams drawn from a series of planned qualifying cups as ESL gives 4v4 TDM the vote of confidence ahead of the EMS's sixth season. The qualifying cups will run from next Wednesday through to mid April and will feature 16 teams in a single elimination format with the top three from each earning a spot in the EMS group stages.
fnatic remain hot favourites to reclaim their title but look likely to face stiff competition from last season's big names as well as Maciej "av3k" Krzykowski and Anton "Cooller" Singov's FRONTLINE TDM squad, who have confirmed their participation in the opening qualifying event. The Eastern Europeans, like fnatic, have a strong mix of 1v1 and team talent and will be hoping to make their mark on the growing TDM scene as 2010 progresses.
fnatic's Pierre-Emeric "l1nkje" Portier confirmed his side's attendance in the upcoming EMS in a statement to TEK9, explaining they were also hoping for "even more TDM tournaments in the future". "In fnatic.MSI, we enjoy playing some TDM action, and that's always a pleasure to play against the top teams of the moment," he explained.
