ELS's new-look European Nations Championship gets five LAN events in 2010 with support from ASUS.

Just days after revealing a $120,000 sponsorship deal with ASUS, ESL have detailed plans to host five offline tournaments for the ENC in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and the Nordic region. The news compounds ESL's dominance over ClanBase's NationsCup and will come as an unexpected boost for the QuakeLive TDM scene as well as the other featured titles.

The series kicks off at Gamers Assembly in France on the 3rd of April and will conclude with the grand finals at this year's Gamescom event in Cologne. Europe's top stars are expected to take part, with the likes of Anton "Cooller" Singov, Maciej "av3k" Krzykowski and Richard "noctis" Gansterer already involved in team deathmatch and more likely to follow after ESL's latest announcement.

"European championships for national teams have a long-standing tradition and eSports is no exception. With the ASUS European Nations Championship we will find Europe's strongest eSports nation", says Ibrahim Mazari, Director of Public Relations at Turtle Entertainment. "The fans can look forward to exciting matches and a thrilling showdown at gamescom in Cologne", adds Mazari.

Mazari only misses the point the tradition of european championships didn't evolve around huge sponsorship deals.
