Early EMS S7 Exit For Incredible Panic?

With the Russians being a Quake loving community and always being highly respected for the amount of raw skill the Moscovian plains bring forth, it is quite a tragedy to see two of the upcoming players suddenly lose access to the game due to receiving a ban on behalf of id Software.

Both Konstantin "Cny" Kalganov and Pavel "kook" Fomkin are noteworthy names in the Russian scene and have been seen playing in a variety of cups and leagues across Europe in the last year and especially the former was regarded as a very talented Duel player, often reaching the latter stages of the famed weekly ZOTAC cups.

Incredible Panic, the only purely Russian team to participate in this season's ESL Major Series had contracted both players quite some time ago and together, they managed to difficult entry into the most prestigious TDM competition. As their home and representing team, Incredible Panic had offered its players access to the Pro status within the game, which came at a cost, but due to a misunderstanding or perhaps badly concealed fraud attempt, the payment of those Pro accounts were never accepted and id Software replied with a permanent ban from the game.

The repercussions of this act seem to seriously affect both players' eSports careers and the team they are representing. Konstantin "Cny" Kalganov was last seen making it all the way into the Intel Extreme Masters group stage, after battling his way through the Russian Qualifier and is likely to be barred entry into the event now. Likewise, Incredible Panic will need to quickly field some new players, as the EMS is about to begin and they will not be able to use two of their core players, thus putting their first EMS attempt in danger.

Their manager, Alexandr "Fast" Zdunkevich, was seen posting a thread in a with-despair-filled attempt to sway the hearts and minds of id Software, hoping they will reconsider and let his two players regain access to Quake Live after all:

"Dear visitors! I hasten to acquaint you with an important information, which has affected some of the best players of our Quake Live team. Cny and Kook have got a life ban at Quake Live, and now they can’t register new accounts or participate in weekly zotac cup tournaments.

Following circumstances has led to this situation: our sponsor has obliged to provide pro-accounts worth of $50 (which allow you to play on all maps, as well as create your own servers etc) for our players. It took some time to purchase those accounts, because the apparent problem was the inability to pay for them through the popular payment methods in Russia: pro accounts can only be payed by credit card visa or mastercard. Unfortunately, our sponsor didn’t have such an opportunity, so he has organized the payment through some intermediaries. That’s what happened with the cny's and kook's accounts - our sponsor has found the person willing to pay with his CC for two accounts in the quake live and receive money from the sponsor through moneybookers ($100 with a commission).

Later it turned out that there was a problem with the card the sponsor couldn’t be aware of before, and the quake live administration do not want to search for any compromise in order to sort out the problem. There’s certainly no fault of players themselves in current situation, and it’s a shame that two players of team Russia, who undoubtedly are among the strongest in the Quake world, can not play this game and perform at the championships, following its contract with iP-Gaming. We would like to ask you to help us in finding a solution for this issue and help convincing Id Software (the developer of quake live) to unban accounts and allow us to pay them again. We are very sorry for the all caused inconveniences and surely agree to pay for those accounts again and we promise that we will make sure that all payments in future will be watched more closely."

We will keep you up-to-date about any updates, should any ensue in the coming days or weeks.
