DreamHack Winter 2010 Hands Out Groups

The event will feature four groups of each four players and over the last couple of weeks, the organisation has step by step handed out all the slots on their sixteen player invite list. After last week's two regional Qualifiers, the list was complete, however, with the announcement of the groups, one more change has been executed.

iCE cLIMBERS and Mousesports star, Magnus "fox" Olsson, has dropped out of this event as well and will not be attending the event in his home country. Many rejoiced when they spotted him on the invite list, but it is expected his flight controller studies are taking up too much time and he is very close to being retired completely. To replace him, they called upon Marius "GUard" Ivanauskas who had planned on attending on behalf of the MSI BEAT IT Finals.

With such an abundance of high skilled players, we were bound to end up with some very difficult groups and as such, especially Group D and Group B can be considered as real Groups of Death. It will be particularly sad for either player that does not make it to the Playoffs, as quite a bit of Quake history can be shared amongst these eight individuals.

The groups should not only keep us entertained for entire Friday, they will lead into a eight player Bracket, which will utilize the Best-of-Three Single Elimination approach, with the best best two of each Group advancing and being matched against their opposite numbers. The eventual winner will walk away with his share of the nearly €7,500 prize purse.
