With the Swedish Jönköping playing host to once more the very best of the Quake Live community as well as a whole host of other eSports titles, the DreamHack Summer 2011 event is looking to be a strong opener to the recent upgrades the DreamHack structure has undergone.
Just over 1,5 weeks are left before the Quake Live community will travel
en masse towards Sweden to participate in the traditional Duel competition, however, the Team Death Match community took the opportunity given by DreamHack to heart and have signed up with a lot of teams to participate in the first ever major TDM tournament in Quake Live.
Duel Player List
In two separate posts, the DreamHack crew announced their invited Player list for Duel and all of the game's top players as well as fan favourites have received an invite and were ready to attend. The final two slots would then be determined through who finished the best in the ZOTAC Duel Cup #82.
Both Gareth "
GaRpY" Marshall and Nikolay "
agent" Mayorov managed to finish amongst the top at that particular ZOTAC DreamHack Qualifier and were expected to turn up for the event. However, as recently became known, the latter had to cancel his participation due to problems with his visum and will be replaced by Sergey "
evil_" Orekhov.
On another note, the Swedish legend and Quake 4 Duel beast, Johan "
toxjq" Quick was originally given an invite to the Duel tournament as well. He unfortunately decided to withdraw from the Duel tournament, for unkonwn reasons as of yet, perhaps due to not having enough time to prepare properly. His slot will be filled by Team-Dignitas player, Dan "
zsx" Sanders who was present at the last installment as well.
Duel Player List:

With all of these top names in attendance, the DreamHack Summer 2011 Duel tournament looks to be very promising, with none of the TOP 10 in Europe missing out.
TDM Tournament
What most people will probably be looking for the most is the Team Death Match tournament that was open for the public, with a high total of 14 teams signing up for the tournament and sees a surprisingly even playing field, with the local scene not highly outnumbering the foreign teams.
The most anticipated performances will surely be the one of the American All-Star line-up of UltraFrag Xtreme.us which features the best three American Duel players of the moment, except for perhaps former SK-Gaming player, John "
ZeRo4" Hill. Another fan favourite will be the European all-star line-up of coman, spearheaded by former iCE cLIMBERS star, Johan "toxjq" Quick and Pierre-Emeric "
l1nkje" Portier.
In total there will be a high number of strong teams in attendance, both old and proven TDM teams who have participated in the EMS and EuroCup season of the past few years, but an equally high amount of teams who have formed around very known TDM and Duel players just for the occasion.

Many top teams, many top players and a whole tournament that will see these go head to head, the tension will be knifable.
Level Up TVThe DreamHack Winter 2010 event was the first where Level Up TV could afford to attend the event itself and have a whole production crew available to cast the games right there and then. With the extra budget given towards the DreamHack crew, they could afford to contract the Level Up TV guys one more time to be present and deliver the top-notch coverage of the games that we are used by them.
The shoutcasting crew has changed, though, as the team will be hoping to employ their fully British casting guys who have been casting more and more as of late, due to a decision to move away from casting only Duel to including more TDM and CTF in the recent weeks. The casting crew will be Ziggy "
nVc" Orzeszek, joined by Stuart "
Disrepute" Evans and we might be able to see some moments where Europe-wide favourite, James "
2GD" Harding shows up on screen as well.
Another change was noted by the Level Up TV's main guy, Cristian "
Trance" Tamas, as they will be moving away from own3d.tv as the cast platform and will be applying the Justin.tv network instead. The quality of the stream should be the highest we have ever seen for a live event, with a free 60 fps, full 720p stream running at 2,5-3 MB/s.
TONY FFA Special
Next to both the Duel and TDM tournaments, James "2GD" Harding has pulled some strings with the DreamHack crew to get one of his, in the mean time, standard TONY FFA tournaments. The idea arose during the last Ultimate Gaming Championship where Italian old school player, TONY, became an internet hype and has remained so ever since.
The FFA tournament will be open for all participants of the Duel as well as TDM tournament as well as some extra players who will be allowed in via TONY himself on the first day of the event. The entire cup will be given a prize purse of 10 000 SEK for the winners and should see some exciting, mindless and full frontal fragging to counter the methodic and tactical Duel and TDM tournaments.
Prize Purse
Although the total prize purse for Quake Live has definitely increased in comparison to the last installment of the DreamHack series, there are a lot more people who want a piece of the Quake Live pie. Both the Duel and TDM Tournaments have been awarded a 40 000 SEK prize purse each, which is less for Duel than during the DreamHack Winter 2010 event.
Add to that the 10 000 SEK for the TONY FFA Special, Quake Live will be given a total of 90 000 SEK for all things Quake at the event and followers will surely have enough to see all weekend long.
