After weeks of speculation and a roaring Team DeathMatch scene that got put completely on its head, we can start seeing the results of all this roster shuffling, as the teams now have to register for the DreamHack Summer '11 event and the community is excited.
One of the first rumours was the fact that the Polish players of 4Kings would be abandoning their dominating Team DeathMatch household name in favour of an all-Polish team with Maciej "
Avekkk" Krzykowski as a front-runner. This has now become reality as a Serious-Gaming team will feature all of these players.
Another team that has already managed to secure the support and energy needed for the tournament will be RG-Esport. This will be one of the few teams that is not subject to sudden roster changes and will simply attend the event with the line-up they have had for the last few months.
However, the real headlines and the real excitement comes from none other than the next two teams that are likely to sign up for the tournament. Anton "
Cooller" Singov has announced on his own website that he will be forming a team with his legendary team mate Zhibo "
Jibo" Fan as well as Yuri "
Frozen" Romanov and the Quake 3 legend of Ivan "
Mikes" Gladyshev.
Another team that will surely turn heads of followers-on is the return of arguably the best Team DeathMatch team ever, iCE cLIMBERS. The Swedish Quick brothers, Johan "
toxjq" Quick and Fredric "
GOPHER" Quick, have decided to make a return to Quake Live after a long hiatus with Quake and gaming in general. In order to get back to their former forms, the team has decided to add both Alessandro "
Stermy" Avallone and Pierre-Emeric "
l1nkin" Portier, who was cut from the Fnatic side not too long ago.
With these teams already sure of attendance, it will be curious as to which other big name teams will make the trip to Jönköping, Sweden from June 18th, 2011 until June 21st, 2011. With still months to go, it is expected that the likes of Reason-Gaming, xentorium and others will also apply for a spot and be part of this tournament.
Hopefully the news of this tournament might lure other players and teams, who had made the move to step away from active play, back into the game and play their part in what is expected to be a memorable event. Whether or not any American teams will make the trip, is not yet known at this point.
