This weekend saw the Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian communities participate in the Empire Quake Live Challenge Final, with all of the participants having qualified for this Final event over the last weeks with 4 Qualifying cups.
This dwindled the amount of participating players to only 32 of the finest players of the Russian region, with the most notable absentees being Anton "
Cooller" Singov and Nikolai "
agent" Mayorov. However, everyone was interested and looking forward to the event as a total prize purse of 8,000 Rubles up for grabs for the three best placed players.
The Empire Quake Live Challenge Final would feature a Double Elimination bracket with Best-of-One being the main match-up format, except for the final rounds of the Winner Bracket and the Grand Final of course.
The biggest player to watch was of course the Serious-Gaming star, Alexei "
Cypher" Yanushevsky, who took his Bracket run to heart and had no difficulties in taking out Ukranian "
x1t" as well as the incredible Panic player, Pavel "
kook" Fomkin. He finally ended up in the Winner Bracket Final against "
ash_", a known Russian Duel player but could secure the win and advanced to the Grand Final.
In that Grand Final, he would be waiting for the winner of the match between "ash_" and his fellow countryman, Vitaliy "
Amai" Boris. The Belarusian tried his best but was unable to secure a win and he would have to be satisfied with a third place finish in this Cup. Meanwhile, in the Grand Final, the same and expected result occured, with Alexei "Cypher" Yanushevsky not having too many problems in taking down "ash_" once more and the star player secured another win and some extra cash.
Final Standings:
Alexei "Cypher" Yanushevsky - 4,000 Rubles
"ash_" - 2,500 Rubles
Vitaliy "Amai" Boris - 1,500 Rubles
