Alexey "Cypher" Yanushevsky claimed top spot at ASUS Winter 2010 with a famous comeback versus Anton "Cooller" Singov.Eastern Europe's top stars were out in force at Russia's premier QuakeLive event as three IEM global finals contestants battled for the top spots in Moscow. Yanushevsky was the eventual winner with the Belarusian coming back from the lower bracket to punish one-time mentor Anton "Cooller" Singov with four straight map wins to pick up the 20,000 roubles top prize.
Singov, arguably the pre-game favourite after winning the upper bracket, was left to rue missed opportunities once more as he was forced to settled for 12,000 roubles in second. The Russian was beaten twice on his beloved ZTN but will take positives from a number of close maps as well as the earlier victory versus the highly-rated Serious-Gaming star.
IEM Asia winner Zhibo "Jibo" Fan rounded off the top three at an event that did well to showcase the depth of talent still present in Russia. New-school star Nikolay "agentJkezooR" Mayorov and Sergey "evil" Orehov were the most impressive of the chasing pack, with the former even managing to pull off a shock win in the upper bracket versus "Jibo" only to have the tables turned in the lower bracket rematch.
