Crossfire release CIC7 structure

Posted by Camiel jetset R. on 2010-02-18 16:16:39
With the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7 taking place in just two weeks from now, between the 5th and 7th of March, the Crossfire admins have released the tournament structure of the €9,000 Call of Duty 4 tournament.

A total of 48 teams will be entering the tournament, divided into 8 groups of 6 teams each. All groupstage matches are best-of-one MR12 and maps are determined by veto (map elimination).

Of each group, the top 2 will advance to a single elimination playoff bracket. All playoff games are best-of-three MR12.

Imo it would be much nicer if 2 teams will advance to winner's bracket, and 3rd team in each group advance to lower bracket, just like it was on tEx.

anyway, gl to all.

TBH having almost all the teams out on first day is brutal :/ Not what i hoped for, if it´s a single elimination then either let 4 teams advance since it´s only 1 more game...or as B33MN said, 2 teams advance to WB and 1 to LB

you already get 5 games in the groupstage :)

It's not brutal... It is a Tournament. You play to win.

After a lot of hard work the Crossfire organisation has managed to change 12 groups of 4 teams into a 8 groups of 6 teams event. Now 32 will drop out after groupstages, but they will have played 5 games. With the 12 groups of 4 format 24 teams would of been out after just 3 games.

So as you can see. The current format gives you a lot more playtime. Perhaps if you would of been able to be there friday morning you could of played 2 days maybe even 3 depending if you make it out of the groups.

groups of 4 teams with 2 going to the playoffs is better

otherwise the 2/3 of the teams playing only one day
26 months ago
+0 thumbs
That would leave you with 24 teams after the groupstages. You will then have to do another set of groupstages and that would take just too long.

Crossfire always hosts their COD tournaments in a groupstage+Single Elim playoffs. This has never been different.

This is fantastic news. It is the best possible situation in the circumstances.

2 weeks ago you'd be attending knowing you could be 3 games from being out of the tournament, to raise that to a minimum of 5 whilst also keeping the BO3 system is without doubt a great result :)))

best-of-three MR12.

how?

Every team will pick their own map + decider by VETO ?

OR

Veto 2 maps out and from rest 3 maps teams will pick their map and last will be decider

2nd one would be more skilled indeed.

so you can veto backlot obviously...

This is how the VETO will work for the playoffs.

1) Coin toss
2) Loser of coin toss picks their map
3) Winner of coin toss picks their map
4) Loser of coin toss removes a map
5) Winner of coin toss removes a map
6) Remaining map is played as the 3rd map.

We as admins will be keeping track of your map picks. You cannot pick the same map twice in a row during playoffs.

This is how it works for the Groupstages

1) Coin toss
2) Loser of coin toss removes a map
3) Winner of coin toss removes a map
4) Loser of coin toss removes a map
5) Winner of coin toss removes a map
6) Remaining map is played

It is not allowed to remove the same maps in two following matches. E.g. Team 1 removes map A + B in first match. In second match Team 1 is only allowed to remove map A or B + another map. In Third match Team 1 is once more allowed to remove map A + B.

I'm assuming when you say "you cannot pick the same map twice in a row during playoffs", do you mean the same system as with eliminating in the Groupstages where you can't eliminate A + B, A + B, A+ B over and over, but can do A + B, A+ C, A+ D, A+ B?

As you can see in the playoffs at (2) and (3). The teams pick their map. You wont be able to pick the same map twice in a row. So you will have to plan ahead which map you want to play against which opponent.

Just one quick question. Is CIC7 using promodlive2.06 as new competitive mod or stick with 2.04 instead until this event over?

we only have 204....and theres no reason at all to change.

Its not about loosers, its just about bigger hopes for teams who will start in lowest seed. Im not whining like 'fuck sake, so stupid rules, only 2 teams advance, blahblah', I understood you have no time/equipment to do looser brackets, but IMO its just you can think about it when you will prepare lan for the next year becasue it would be bigger chance for med teams to show up.

Thats all.

Cu guys there :)
