Cooller in late visa scare for IEM Dubai

Anton "Cooller" Singov was again the centre of attention this morning after rumours broke out on esreality.com that the mousesports star was going to be unable to make his much-anticipated Quake comeback due to visa issues. Lithuanian player Marius "GUArd" Ivanauskas quoted the Russian as saying on IRC that ESL had not sent him the requisite travel documents and so he was unable to secure a visa to enter the United Arab Emirates.

Speculation mounted that even if the organisers were to send the documents today it would take three to four days to arrange the visa and although a post on the mousesports Twitter page suggested this afternoon that a solution had been found, the post was later removed and the situation apparently remains unresolved.

Team manager Rene Lannton spoke to TEK9 to clarify the situation, admitting that the visa issues were not yet fully overcome but that mousesports were "desperately looking to support Anton in this case". He confirmed that they were currently working on resolving the issue together with ESL and that they would do "whatever it takes" to ensure that "Cooller" can compete at the Dubai tournament.

The Russian player now looks set to face a race against time if he is to take part in the Global Challenge event this weekend. The two-time ESWC champion is the third seed in Group C and was scheduled to play on Sunday on ESL-TV.

Update: "Cooller has arrived in Dubai" according to esl-world.net

The quotes in this article are about five minutes old and from the mousesports management. But let's hope you're right.

They tweeted about it being fixed. The tweet has been deleted however, as they didn't want it to be spread until he landed in Dubai.
