CIC7: Written interview with Dignitas raz

Will “wizinium” Hunter sits down with Jonathan “raz” Baker from Dignitas at Crossfire Intel Challenge.

Hey raz, would you mind introducing yourself to our readers please?

“Hi, I’m raz from Dignitas, I’m the team leader  aswell as the ingame leader for the team and I have been in the team for quite a while.”

How was your trip here from the United Kingdom?

“The trip for me was long. The flights were late in the afternoon and my family had to do some things.  I’ve been travelling for quite a while now, over  10 hours.

How has the event been so far?

“The event is well organized for a change. Crossfire is a well organized event and this shows by the admins who actually know what to do and what type of things to look into, so yeah its going really great."

So you have picked up robye instead of blackmane, why did you decide to pick up robye and how well has he fitted in?

“We picked up robye because we felt that blackmane was a liability in the fact that his attitude towards the community was unprofessional  and also his ingame attitude which raised a lot of eyebrows. When nreo and phantasy joined we warned them about it and we decided to give blackmane the benefit of the doubt. It slowly came to the process again and decided to remove him and we were lucky robye was free at the time. He has fitted in really well, he’s a team player and knows how to motivate the team.

You are in a relatively tough group especially with corgz in it but you are expected to win it. What did you think of your group before going into the event?

“We said to ourselves before we got the event that we would treat every game as if it were the final. The problem is that when we got to the LAN, we found out the structure of it and we found an eyebrow in it but it hasn’t changed our view on it we just play every game like it is our last.”

You recently lost against tMoe 13-11 and a lot of people expected you to win. What exactly happened?

“To be honest we went all over our heads, overestimated them and by the time we got our game together it was too late. We played rounds stupidly and our communications were lacking so after the game we had a team discussion to look for improvements and we think we found the flaws in our game and hope to improve on them.”

You are up against corgz, your toughest opposition yet. What will you do to improve your team performance?

“Just comms really. As it is just the groups games the mentality of the team isn’t there yet, as we are thinking “o its just the group game” and I think that’s what we need to work. We need to get the team to think that if we lose this we may not make it to the playoffs so they will try everything to win.

Who will be your strongest player at this event and why?

“The strongest player in the team would ne nreo.  He’s one of those players who can hold a part on the map and let the team work around him and as he is the bomb carrier we have to cover him aswell as making sure he doesn’t die. But yeah he’s a good motivator and a good team player and team play is one of the strongest aspects of a team so yeah he would defiantly be the strongest.”
 
We have seen many surprises thus far, could you predict a top 5?

“Top 5 without us included, Reason, NCE, loaded, fnatic and power.”
