CIC7: Reason beat fnatic and top their group

Reason Gaming win the game and top their group.

In a thrilling game, Reason Gaming have just beaten fnatic in a direct battle for first place, 13 to 8 on mp_strike.

After pc problems delayed the game, Reason Gaming and fnatic faced off at 12:30 CET, with Reason starting out on the attacking side on mp_strike. Early in the game, Reason took a quick lead, 4 to 2, before fnatic tied the game at 4-4. Faced with a 1v1 situation in the ninth round, Tom "D1ablo" Newman managed to take out fnatic's scope, Stevy "Stevy" Verheyen and helped his team secure two more rounds before halftime: 7-5 in favor of Reason Gaming.

Switching sides, with fnatic attacking and Reason Gaming on the defence, the Brits took the first round of the second half only to lose two consecutive rounds, bringing the game back to a close 8-7 score. fnatic were unable to keep the initiative as Reason took two rounds to put them at 10-7, only to lose one more round before finishing the game 13 to 8.

Reason Gaming now look to face corgz in the first round of the playoffs, assuming that Team Dignitas top Group C and corgz place second. This would also mean that two of the main favorites to make the Grand Final, Team Dignitas and fnatic, are likely to meet in the first (single elimination) round of the playoffs, with one going home in 9-16th place.

Statement revoltz: "Apart from the computer problems before the game began, the game went strongly for us. We had a few sloppy rounds, and personally I did not play very well, but luckily the rest of the lads stepped up huge in the key rounds to give us the victory we needed. If Dignitas don’t throw the game we will be playing corgz most likely in the next round, which for us is a nice start to the playoff run. They would be stupid to throw the game, considering our momentum and fnatic’s lack of it, but we will see what happens in the next hour or so."
