CIC7: Power over PGS, Reason defeat Dignitas

Posted by Camiel jetset R. on 2010-03-07 02:11:34
The second set of matches of the first single elimination playoff round at the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7 has just come to an end and four more teams find themselves in the Quarter Finals.

In the first game of the second set, the last Dutch team still in the tournament, TheLastResort, proved to be no match for a dominant H2k side, who won both maps with quite a margin, 13-7 on mp_strike and 13-3 on mp_citystreets. H2k move on to the Quarter Finals, in which they will be looking to challenge for a spot among the final four.

The most interesting match of the round was streamed live by Quadv. UK rivals Team Dignitas and Reason Gaming went all out and made it an amazing spectacle to watch, with the individual skill of certain players really shining through in decisive rounds. Despite their below average performance in the groupstages, losing to tMoe and corgz, Team Dignitas quickly stepped up their game on the first map, with Robin "robyYE" Swaters leading the way for the Dignitas side with a number of key clutch moments: 13-8.

One map down, Reason Gaming showed they might well be the team to beat at the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7. After a 13-9 victory on mp_crossfire, Reason Gaming kept in control and managed to overcome Team Dignitas in the end: 13-8.

Despite a good start, Team Dignitas lose to Reason Gaming after a close 1-2 game.

After topping their group with victories over Loaded, MCA, PLAGA, GFO Gaming and MouseFX, Power Gaming are still standing strong and managed to qualify for the Quarter Finals with a solid win over PGS. Despite PGS' best efforts, Power Gaming walked away with the victory after a two map game on mp_crash, 13-10, and mp_citystreets, 13-8.

After a second place in Group A, crowd favorite Team Impact will be leaving the tournament in 9-16th place after Team YoYoTech crossed their path in the first round of the single elimination bracket. YoYoTech secured their spot in the Quarter Finals in two straight maps, 13-9 on mp_crash and 13-5 on mp_citystreets and will meet Power Gaming in their second playoff game.

A loss doesn't stop the Italians from having a good time!

What exactly have they accomplished at LAN that was so big? And this is their first LAN in this lineup. In groupstages both eSuba and OX are respectable opponets, especially eSuba with the amount of experience going around in that team. And as for h2k, they're one of the contenders for the title.

I admit that online things go easier for us, but on the other side it might be lacking lan experience. And we will do our best for the next LANs to get out online level;)
