CIC7: Hostile Faction deliver big blow to mTw

Denmark's Hostile Faction have turned Group E upside down with an impressive victory over mTw, who now look to drop out of the tournament in the groupstages.

After defeating DOK Gaming with relative ease, 13 to 4, mTw were unable to get into the game versus an in form Hostile Faction, who managed to get up four rounds before conceding one, shortly after a timeout. In the remaining rounds of the first half, the Danes managed to build up quite a lead on defence, ending the half with a 10 to 2 score.

Switching over to attack, Hostile Faction lost three more before taking a clear 13-5 victory over mTw, the current number ten of Europe. With this loss, mTw are likely to lose out on a spot in the groupstages, unless Hostile Faction loses to DOK Gaming or mTw beat H2k, in which case things will come down to rounds won versus rounds lost.

Statement Patrick "PATR" André Gjøl: "We came into this match not exactly expecting to win, but we were really motivated and we’ve played against them lots in pcw’s. However, we started out with taking 4 really strong rounds, after which mTw called a timeout. After that timeout they got a round, but we then started to win more rounds with some really strong play from k1lmo and aagaard, and with gevers closing out every single 1on1 he was in. We were starting as defence, so obviously being rounds up gives you the upper mental advantage, thus making us have a 10 - 2 half.

We then went to play attack and won our first round after a B push. However, after that mTw started doing some pushes and stacking either B or A, and they seemed a bit lucky on where they sent their players. Either way, we went on and finally got our act together, ending the match 13-6 I believe. It was a really tense game and really showed who we are as a team. i’m really excited about our group now, as the people we have to beat now are H2k and DOK, which are both really good opponents.

We’re going for the win, and we’ll try to finish first in our group, but realistically it's probably going to be 1. H2k, 2. HF.EU, 3. mTw, 4. DOK, 5. NCC."

if mTw doesn't get their act together quickly, i'll doubt that they will be able to stay in MTW. Let's hope for the best
