One of North America's premier online esports leagues, CEVO is now taking signups for an online european event, the CEVO CoD4 European Showdown Tourney. The tourney is free and currently limited to 128 teams but that number will increase if there are enough registration numbers. The event will start Sunday, July 17th.
After years of giving the North American community quality online competition CEVO has decided to expand to Europe. For those who don't know, CEVO has been one of the premier esports competition sites in North America for the better part of the last decade. They provide quality competitions for all games, but are currently expanding CoD4 into Europe. CEVO is unique in that they offer two things: A pay2play competition with cash prizes who prides themselves in the fact that they pay out to winning teams (note: the European Showdown tournament is a FREE tournament with NO PRIZES.) and a proprietary anticheat solution that has proven reliable and effective, CMN3 or CEVO MATCH NETWORK CLIENT.
CEVO has supported CoD in North America since CoD1, running 11 successful events in North American CoD4 from the start of the game through late 2010. They run a mixture of leagues (8 week formats plus playoffs) and single and double elim tournaments over a shorter period of time in between their seasons. The current head of game is Ian Tannehill, who started with CEVO in CoD2 and has been there since December of 2006 running tournaments.
Currently CEVO has plans to host a 128 team free event starting on July 17th that will span over two Sundays. Should there be a demand for more teams CEVO will increase the team limit. The more important parts of their format are:
- Single elimination with 4 brackets of 16 teams
- "Group stage" matches will start at 8 pm CEST
- "Group stage" maps will be: Round 1 - mp_crossfire, Round 2 - mp_citystreets, Round 3 - mp_backlot
- Top two teams from each bracket will advance to a finals bracket.
- Finals bracket matches will be best of three, with map choices being crossfire, citystreets, backlot, crash, and strike
- Map selection will be determined via toss, toss, pick, pick with the home team getting first pick
- Knife round for sides, standard MR_12 match settings (promod_mode match_knife_mr12) apply
- Promod version used will be Promod Live v2.11 eu
- CMN3 anti-cheat will be mandatory, teams not running it will forfeit.
Note: When selecting "game" while registering for the event, choose "Call of Duty".
ALL players playing for your team need to create an account on CEVO site and signup on your team, and enter their guids to be considered eligible to play.

Should anyone have any problems registering, you can do one of two things: email me at itannehill@cevo.com, or go to support.cevo.com and file a support ticket and I'll help you as soon as possible.
For example, you were given a week to arrange and play a match with your opponent.
we don't normally require mandatory demo upload unless a team is disputed. We do require running of the CMN3 anti cheat though, which is top notch.

This is a quick tournament which we're trying to hold over the span of a few days. Sunday works best in this case as both of the admins currently running the event are american. After this event I'll probably poll people for which night they want matches on.
Normally we have one match night a week and you're given that entire week to schedule and play, however you normally can't schedule past the deadline day.
Yeah I was just wondering as I often work late on Sunday evenings. I would have been awfully disappointed if all of your events were run on Sundays! That sounds perfect, thank you.
i c wat you did there...
whats your team?
yes, you need ALL players signed up with guids entered. If they're not signed up on the site and on your team they will not be able to get on cmn come match time.
you're supposed to have enough people on your roster before the tourney starts. We typically lock the rosters during the day of matches in an event like this, although i suppose if the other team agreed in match comms we'd let you add a merc.
