In the beginning of May when CEVO announced that there would be fourteen spots open for upcoming professional teams wanting to participate in the CEVO-Professional placement tournament, the applications from teams that wanted to fill those spots started pouring in. After reviewing the applications and undergoing what I am sure was a scrutinizing deliberation, CEVO and Ian Tannehill have recently released the sixteen team long list of the CEVO-Professional placement tournament participants for season five. The list was released on May 29th, and is outlined below:
1. mainLine Gaming
2. Team RAOV

4. New Era Gaming
5. Revolution Sports
6. Vision.Valor.Victory
7. Immortal 7
8. Area51
9. Illicit Gaming
10. Wayne Gretzky's Heroes
11. Area51 Northern Iowa
12. BAMF
13. eMazing Gaming
14. Binary
15. LAN Team, Inc
16. Mobility
With all the teams eager to start season five, CEVO will be holding the tournament over the course of this weekend, so by late Sunday night or early Monday morning, the top seven teams will have earned themselves a spot in the CEVO-Professional division for the upcoming season, joining the top three teams from the March Madness tournament (Pure E-Sports, Loaded, Carnal Gaming) which have already been placed in the Professional division. The tournament will follow a double elimination format in which all the standard CEVO match rules apply.
The tournament will commence on Friday, June 4th as the teams face off on mp_strike in round one. Following that will be round two on Saturday, which is to be held on mp_backlot for both the upper and lower brackets. Then Sunday marks round three for the upper bracket and lower bracket on mp_citystreets, and round four for the lower bracket on mp_crash.
This host of teams promises to result in quite an interesting weekend for the Call of Duty 4 North American competitive community. Be sure to check back with us here at TEK-9 as we provided you with complete coverage throughout the weekend.
