Richard "Gonzo" Lewis attended the Call of Duty 4 event for our sister site of Cadred.org and even though he is more home to the Counter-Strike: Source scene, he tried to gather as much information as possible at the event and take in as much Call of Duty 4 as he could possibly handle for the Call of Duty 4 readers at Cadred.
As per usual, he covered the event and afterwards divides the event in a simple equation of yes and no, summing up all the things that were good at the event and should be repeated as well as all the things that should be avoided next time around.
Usually, he does this for the few Counter-Strike: Source LANs there are out there, but he has included a Call of Duty 4 LAN in his list now, voicing his opinion on the biggest Call of Duty 4 LAN out there and it must be said that he seemed somewhat impressed by the mentality of the community, which is of course a bonus point in our favour.
Here is a small snippet of the entire article:
"Good LAN: The Jetton
Indeed, the currency known as "The Jetton" enjoyed huge gains against the dollar, pound and Euro in the international markets after the entire gaming population of Belgium were forced to use them in the confines of the Antwerp E-sports Festival… In case you wonder what the hell I'm talking about I of course refer to the ridiculous method o payment for food and drink, which meant gamers had to stock up on Jettons – "tokens" – at an exchange rate of two euros to a yellow plastic octagons. Forget the initial unwitting comedy of having to purchase the Jettons from an attendant with cash, then having to hand the jettons back to the same attendant seconds later to purchase goods – yes, this was the norm – and you can actually see something sinisterly clever at play. A plastic octagon looks no more like money than James Corden looks like an Emporio Armani model – although Jettons are funnier and also less of a prick. As such, you don’t seem to mind spending them in large quantities, not understanding exactly how much you've just parted with. Just like all Brits with Euros then. Anyway, it was a great LAN for the people's republic of Jettonia."

Good LAN/Bad LAN.
Shocking treatment of an e-sports veteran such as myself.
Add the following;
~100 mosquito bites (apparantly im a rather tasty morsel).
Realising im in a team with Mark "id kill her with my little finger" Horner.
Realising Mark is the worst drunk EVER and that i was stuck with him for a week.
Coming down with a cold (or malaria from the mossies) half way through the event.
Btw you should add a bit about yourself Richard, i mean coming back hammered after the first night out, wandering around the hotel, opening the first door which wasnt locked (which happened to be ours, bare in mind that at this point weve only met Richard that day, for a couple of mins) staggering in and plopping yourself in the double bed between killzx and stylez (stylez being hammered himself greets you with a "quiet down gonzo"), and commiting god knows what crimes on those two young boys.
THAT either constitutes a good, or bad LAN depending on how you swing! Ha.
P.S. The train ticket back wasnt wrong by 24 hours, but a whole month?? No idea how THAT happened.
P.S.S. We (fm!) didnt do that badly i feel, we lost to the two finalists pwr & h2k. Training before LAN we were getting beat my literally everyone, we just knew that all our players are stronger on LAN. And you knew we enjoyed LAN... XD
