Blog: i38 Final Day - wiziniUm

Posted by Will wizinium Hunter on 2009-11-16 01:41:03

This was my final day at i38. I was glad to get away from what has been a disappointing lan in terms of tournaments but the social aspect of the lan has been good. I bounced out of bed after a good nights sleep, hit the shower. I was in the shower and heard a banging and found out it was Steven basically telling me to hurry up. So I got out, got ready and headed down to breakfast with Steven, while Matt had a shower. The breakfast was good and we got talking to arm3d about there sponsorship with gigabyte and the marketing they are doing for them. It was an interesting way to start the morning and then Matt came down, we ordered a taxi and we were off.

The taxi driver was weird again. He was Indian and felt like he was doing 2 jobs while driving. He was speaking to people on the phone in Indian then speaking to them in English. Was he trying to work as a call centre operator, while having two people on hold, while driving the taxi? God only knows. Thankfully we made it to the event without too much difficulty, then I hit the press area and got my blog up from day 3. I had a few hours to kill before I travelled home. I specced some COD4 games including element vs infused and i.qpad vs infused. I was stood behind Element for a while and it was an awesome game to watch, it was neck and neck up until 9-9. Both  Element and infused threw away some stupid rounds at the start and Element really got behind each other as did infused when I stood behind them. Infused then pulled away from Element and took the victory, it was great to see good UK rivalry. I stood behind infused again and they seemed to roll over i.Qpad easily with some good nades. i.Qpad suprised me this event, they were very good on mw2 CTF and also with a bit of practice in cod4 as a team could do well if they stick together.

It was nearly time to head home so I went off to see Steven and he wanted me to do one more interview before I left.  I quickly wrote out the questions and grabbed fnatic/stevy for an interview. I felt sorry for him a he had his watch stolen and had big problems with his flights but later on that day I was told he got his watch back which I'm glad he did. After the interview it was time to head home. This is the worst part of every event for me, having to say goodbye to everyone. I had so many people to say goodbye too so if I did leave you out I'm sorry. I quickly said goodbye to everyone and helped jonesy take his thins out to the car as he was the one giving me a lift to the airport. We were about to leave then vanner, revoltz and Will came over. They were talking about what happened to Moff last night, fuck my life, you thought duffer was crazy, this was pretty crazy aswell. We said our goodbyes and hit the road to the airport.

The drive was good, it was a straight road to Bristol airport and so made it within an hour and a half which was awesome. I had a great converstation with jonesy in the car, what a great guy, I hope to see him again at future events. We arrived in Bristol and stopped at his uni house to drop of some things and then hit the airport. Bristol airport is in the middle of nowhere. We were driving through the countryside then all of a sudden and airport pops up, it's crazy. He dropped me off with plenty of time before my flight. We said our goodbyes and I went through security, which I had to be searched. They didn't find the drugs in my suitcase so it was all good. I was hungry so Burger King was in order, a double whopper meal please, the meal was quickly disposed off. I took a seat for 30 minutes and my gate came up and before I knew it, I was in the air. The flight was good until the landing, again the plane started shaking and turning while landing. I will not fly with Ryanair again unless we are under budget, it's awful. I arrived in Belfast again and rememebered why I haven't missed it with all the retards walking around.

My Dad came and picked me up at the airport and headed back home to more problems. My desktop will not work, it bluescreens on start up and doesn't even give me a error message. I asked Ellie from some PC advice which she gave me but unfortunately didn't work. Please do not ask me to mix as I can't as I will be on my netbook. It sort of summed up a pretty dire weekend.

It was a great lan to socialise with people, so thank you to everyone who made it enjoyable for me. Big thanks to Heaven Media for sending me to this event and of course Steven for all his help. Thanks to kevlar for sorting out a decent COD4 tournament to sort of salvage something from this lan. A massive thanks for jonesy for taking me to the airport <3 <3

I will hopefully see you lot again at i39!
