With the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 just over our shoulder, the community were looking forward to a bright future with Multiplay's i38 LAN just around the corner, a LAN to fit in some hardcore practice of the newly released title, as well as putting the most recent installment through its paces on a competitive playing field, however a somewhat major setback has risen its ugly head in the shape of the BBFC -
The British Board of Film Classification.
Unlike previous Call of Duty installments, Modern Warfare 2 has been given an 18+ rating by the BBFC for its content which prominently features in the single player campaign (more than likely the innocent civilian culling), however the rating is continued over to the multiplayer aspect of the game, which means it is (at least in the UK) illegal to purchase and play the game if you are under the age of 18.
In response to this news, Multiplay issued an official statement regarding whether or not under 18's who had paid for their i38 LAN ticket before the title was announced would be allowed to participate in the tournament, and unfortunately the statement was anything but positive, stating that "we [Multiplay] simply cannot lift this restriction" and that they "feel it is irresponsible to ignore the age restriction and that doing so would send out the wrong message, even with parental consent.".
Thankfully only a handful of teams are effected by this announcement, however this does spell disaster - in a very roundabout way - for numerous players. You can read the official statement

What a poor event.
By all means SD can still be played, but there needs to be a variety in a game which is modern, up to date and accommodates for all skill levels, not rewarding precise aim.
We've all learnt from 2 years of COD4 that SD over and over on 5 different maps can be dead boring, so let's change that right now.
so instead of staying on one game, you propose that we keep changing games every year even that they will probably fail.
for me this is the one and only opportunity to stick with one game
Don't you agree that CTF, TDM, SD, DOM all mixed into a BO3 match would be more fun than 24 rounds of SD action on Strike? Maybe people will get bored this time next month, but why not make the most of the game while it's out and everyone is buzzing?
Not to mention the fact that one team couldn't practice SD on 1 map for 4 days and destroy anyone who they come across, it would mean that players and teams would have to perfect the game, and not the gametype.
Variety, promoting teamwork and a fresh game is a big enough reason for me to think it's a good idea.

for all of who have seen Superbad :P
Most cheaters, nobs, whiners, annoying pricks are below 18. Shame this rule is only enforced at LAN tbh.
